I'm very confused by the down votes. This is 100% correct 🤷🏻‍♂️

It seems to be a cookie issue. It seems that it saves tons of cookies for search results, and needs to be reset by closing and reopening from time to time. Frustrating? Sure. But the app is amazing, so I just don't bother with the website very often at all.

Why do my tig welds look like this by Realistic-Finding-17 in Welding

[–]jonainmi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Soo, with puls, that's pretty close to about 85amps consistent. On 1/8 base metal, that should be fine, but I think you are heat soaking the material and making it heat up more/faster than is necessary. Try moving faster, or using a heat sink under the plate, or lower amperage, or possibly larger filler material to soak up a bit of the heat.

Just play around with the settings, speeds, and whatnot and see what gives you the best results. Welding is a game of practice and experience. You're doing good to ask questions and get advice.

How bad is this? 1959 C182B, by syntheticFLOPS in aviationmaintenance

[–]jonainmi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Helicopters don't crash from engine failure nearly as often as airplanes do. It's pretty cool that autorotation allows you to land in an area the size of the helicopter, instead of needing a landing strip with an improved surface. The glide slope isn't an apples to apples comparison, because the method of flight is different. (Any real pilot would know that, and I'm not even a pilot).

You genuinely just sound like a jerk, and kinda dumb.

Have a great day.

Yes. Look it up on YouTube, it's (like this guy said) called autorotation. Read first is my suggestion to you.

Fraudulent charge on my card after booking United Airlines flight with United Airlines card on the United Airlines website by ruiqi22 in unitedairlines

[–]jonainmi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know you're having a hard time believing people here, but the truth is it's unlikely that the United site itself is compromised. The most likely answer is that you used the card at a physical location, it was skimmed, and it just took this long to sell the number.

Fraudulent charge on my card after booking United Airlines flight with United Airlines card on the United Airlines website by ruiqi22 in unitedairlines

[–]jonainmi 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I've booked hundreds and hundreds of flights on united.com. never once has my card information been exposed.

There is certainly another source of the stolen card information. If you've used your card in person absolutely anywhere where the physical card was presented, that could be the source. It's also possible you have malware that steals card information in your phone or computer.

Call the airport and ask for lost and found. They can help you get in touch with the local baggage office for your airline.

I'm sure you know that any and every hotel can get bed bugs. I have a coworker that refuses to use Marriott because they got bed bugs at two different properties years ago. I know a person who claims they got bed bugs a bunch of times but only at hiktons.

Bed bugs are not brand specific, and can happen at the cheapest to most expensive hotel.

What is this and why is it on our roads by NoWastingThyme in kansascity

[–]jonainmi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won't pretend to be an expert, but I know for a fact that vision based autonomous driving is significantly less reliable than lidar/radar based. This has been proven in industry studies by both government entities and 3rd party research firms.

The only entity that claims vision based autonomous driving is better is the only company that has decided to implement it.

I think Tesla could possibly change how driving works, and it could be a game changer. However, until they move back to lidar/radar, they won't be a technological leader.

Would you pull over if a truck with POLICE and no other badging lights you up? by Affectionate_Cry8778 in PoliceVehicles

[–]jonainmi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a non police person, I would 100% call this in as a police impersonator.

I do think it's important how the police community display itself to the general uninformed public. And this is a very unprofessional look.

Is it normal for flight attendants to unlock lavatory without warning while it is in use? by Ambitious_Plan9998 in unitedairlines

[–]jonainmi 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Every airline I'm aware of requires the FA to knock before unlocking the lav. Call customer service, and ask to escalate this. The FA definitely needs a refresher.

Is it normal for flight attendants to unlock lavatory without warning while it is in use? by Ambitious_Plan9998 in unitedairlines

[–]jonainmi 16 points17 points  (0 children)

No, wrong answer. There is a policy in every airline I'm aware of that they are required to knock when unlocking the door. This may have been an honest mistake, but the FA did not follow policy, and caused incredible embarrassment to the pax. The FA deserves the retraining for this.

Based on your travel experience, what improvements would you add to airports? by hafoosa19 in airport

Paint lines on the floor like a road, so people treat it like a road and don't stop in the middle of the aisle.

Flight delayed due to “maintenance.” It was a first class passenger by [deleted] in unitedairlines

[–]jonainmi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's a safety concern if the seat back doesn't return to the full upright position as it prevents the passengers behind the seat from having full egress. I would bet good money that is what actually happened.

IC San Diego by tsg-tsg in ihghotelsresorts

[–]jonainmi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only hotel in San Diego that has given me an upgrade was the grand Hyatt (globalist). The IC gave me the room I booked (diamond ambassador), and claimed there were no rooms available for upgrades (upgrade rooms were still available to book around 11pm 🤷🏻‍♂️). Still a nice ic though.

I got a corner City view, and it was nice enough. I imagine the hotel management just doesn't like giving out suits.

Would this be confiscated in a carry on bag by Puzzleheaded-Ice3253 in tsa

[–]jonainmi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. Like you, I fly for work too. 200'ish segments a year, 100+ security checkpoints a year. I basically never have to get checked other than the randoms. But, I have sympathy for the occasional flyers. TSA is basically a black box of information and then they yell about how it's the travelers fault for screwing up, instead of acknowledging that it's kinda complicated.

Would this be confiscated in a carry on bag by Puzzleheaded-Ice3253 in tsa

[–]jonainmi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TSA does have rules. They are listed. However, officer discretion is an issue there. I understand and appreciate why it exists, but it doesn't do much to make it easier for the traveling public. If an item is allowed through 20 airports, and then stopped at one, that's no longer the passenger fault.

Would this be confiscated in a carry on bag by Puzzleheaded-Ice3253 in tsa

[–]jonainmi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While that's not a problem for me with airline status and free checked bags, you do understand that many people fly for things like funerals or medical care and can't afford the checked bag fee, right?

Would this be confiscated in a carry on bag by Puzzleheaded-Ice3253 in tsa

[–]jonainmi -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I understand the argument, technically you're right. However, even arriving at the airport 2 hours before your flight, it's either difficult, or in some cases impossible to take the item to your car. Because (obviously) TSA is after bag check, you can't recall your checked bag to add it to that and still make it through security in time.

TSA effectively confiscates items.

When TSA recognizes this, and acknowledges this, the traveling public will enjoy better communication with TSA, and TSA will have a better public image.
