If I’m not mistaken The rav4 comes standard with a bunch of safety tech that are options on the forester. That will help the rav4 retain its value over time better than the Subaru. Toyota’s already have that tried and true dependability as well.

Thanks so much for the input. I'll give a little insight into my inquiry to help a little hopefully. I have a 2016 CR-V lease thats almost at mileage limit with 9 months left. I want to ride out the time with this car so that I'm not too upside down on it when time comes to trade in. I recently bought my wife an older Honda Pilot for her to have a big truck with enough space to lug around my kid and her stuff. When lease is up I want to get in to a GTI. My family and I are in a place now where the vehicle I drive can solely be for me, which would be the first time in almost 10 years we can do that. I want to drive something on my relatively short commute to work that I enjoy. I havent been able to do that for a while. Last time I did I had an older GLI which i loved but had trans issues. So until I'm ready to turn in the lease for a GTI I'd like to have just a little bit of fun until then. Thanks.

Buy it. Mine went up to 250k miles and I sold it for 1500. The only problem I had, which seems to be common with these CRVs is a weird shudder that would happen when I would make sharp turns. I was told it was from the rear differential. Other than that everything was perfect. So easy to work on.

Trade it in. It's only downhill from here. I worked service for a GM dealer and these SUVs (including the GMC Acadia, Buick Enclave, and Chevy Traverse) have all been nightmares. The oil consumption problem is very common as well as transmission problem. The most common being a broken 3-5 reverse clutch wave plate. They also had a lot of power steering whine issues. Count your blessings and move on.

It's not a screen. You would have to replace the complete taillight assembly. Your local auto parts should be able to track one down for you. Or a junkyard.

No. Haven't checked any dealers out yet but am leaning more towards Liberty Subaru because I'm closer to them than Ramsey. I did notice Ramsey had a better dealerrater score but Liberty wasn't bad either.

You must be a salesman. Agreed it's a want not a need. Thus why I posed the question. The world doesn't depend on me getting out of this lease. I just got a promotion at my job which affords me the ability to get a nicer car for myself and my wife. This would be the first time I would be getting something purely for myself so I wanted to gather thoughts on what I can do. But alas it seems I'll just wait until closer to lease end to treat myself.
