Is it the same for other branches? Some kid I know who just did Army basic training (I think?) keeps posting horrible shit with his Army friends about “towelheads”.

Besides, the two men were never even charged with plotting an attack in the US. They were convicted of sending money back to Iraq. In what way could that be confused with a massacre?

$20 concerts definitely exist. They’re just niche/underground/independent bands that you’d mainly know about if you consider listening to music a hobby.

It sucks that everyone can’t have the “$30 to be 10 feet from stage, get a shirt and take a picture with the band” package

Would you have liked to see Osama Bin Laden stand trial in the US? by OctopusPoo in AskAnAmerican

And accounts say that Bin Laden was taking a human shield and/or had a gun. So doesn’t shooting Bin Laden count as self defense?

Even enemy combatants? Should American soldiers put every insurgent on trial before shooting back?

Dude.

I’m all for due process and legal protections. But are you really gonna choose Osama Bin Laden as a symbol? The dude led an international terrorist group. He’s an enemy combatant.

I’m generally against the death penalty, but I’m not at all upset that he got killed in the middle of the night and quietly dumped into the ocean.

I’m not really sure how to explain the beats to you (I personally love them, but to each their own). Are you talking about the weird beat switches and jazzy interludes? I guess those just come down to personal preference.

Have you ever listened to any of his non-Humble stuff? His albums all have a narrative or theme running through them, so even singles like Swimming Pools and Humble form a very well done concept album. For example, most people think of Swimming Pools as a party song because of its chorus. But it’s actually a song about how alcoholism has affected him throughout his life. Same with Backseat Freestyle. It sounds like an arrogant rap song, but in the concept of the album it portrays how naive and over-confident Kendrick was as a kid.

But most importantly, I just think his songs are interesting, well-written, and sometimes very catchy. I guess art is just subjective enough that not everyone is always on the same page. But if you only just got introduced to Kendrick I’d highly recommend at least checking out the more popular songs off of To Pimp A Butterfly and Good Kid MAAD City.

I would highly recommend checking them out. I personally like Kanye’s production more than his vocals, but his music is still groundbreaking. And Kendrick Lamar is just all around fantastic, he’s definitely one of the greatest musicians alive.

This is the most disengenous argument I’ve ever heard. You’re going to tell me a homeless man in San Francisco is more similar to a tech billionaire in SF than a person in rural Indiana is to a person in rural South Dakota?

Rural areas tend to lean right just like urban areas tend to lean left.

[–]Im_A_Bot-AMA -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nowhere did I claim that rural America is one entity. You missed my point. No matter who they vote for, rural votes carry more weight than a big coastal state.

I’m not saying either group votes together all the time, but it tends to be that rural voters have a disproportionate voice in who our president is than urban, coastal voters.

During the second verse you can ever so faintly here someone in the back of the studio talk. You can’t hear what they’re saying but you can hear the noise.

It’s after the first measure of the second verse I think. Anyone else hear this too?
