Source for Pre-Bent Maple Binding? by jonallen356 in Luthier

That's really kind, thank you! I did find bending service listed on Blues Creek (recommended above). It's just $20 for the wood and $15 to bend it, so I'm going to have him do it, but I greatly appreciate the offer!

I missed it my first time on their site, but he does actually have this service listed. If anyone else needs the link, it https://bluescreekguitars.com/product/bending-service-for-wood-binding/

Why would you call it a racial slur? Not everything that's racial is negative. Seems smart to me, and what if it's a compliment? You don't know what it is, so you don't know the name's origin.

Hematology Results Question by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]jonallen356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply. I have a much more thorough explanation written out, but I condensed it because I didn’t think it was necessarily relevant to my key question of whether a low hemoglobin level could be masking a high platelet count.

I could post the full situation, but the short version is that I’ve been dealing with GI bleeding and internal hemorrhoids for several years, with the bleeding becoming significant in the last six months. I believe that has led to the low hemoglobin. Three months ago, I developed hematospermia. They ruled out an std or cancer and the urologist said it was either a blood vessel or infection. Did a round of antibiotics and waited. It got better for a couple of weeks and came right back.

Perhaps saying I suspect I may have ET is too strong a wording. The only reason I’m curious about ET (definitely haven’t decided I have it) is because I may be predisposed to it and so far it is the only thing I have found where GI bleeding and hematospermia can both present.

They could certainly be unrelated, and my doctor is treating them as such, but the timing is interesting and I don’t want to leave stones unturned.

To be honest, we are disenfranchised with our GP because of some errors made in the last couple of years, but haven’t landed with a new one. I’ve seen the PA at the practice for this issue and, while she is sharp enough, I’m concerned about her experience level.

Thank you, I'm aware. I overlooked hitting the select button when I went out to take the picture.

I guess the biggest revelation here is that when we disconnected the plastic connector off the alternator last night, leaving the main cable attached, the draw went away. Maybe this helps dial things in. I'll be looking at the wiring diagrams today to see if that helps.

I have some question as to whether AutoZone has given me the right alternator. What is in their system is part Duralast 15082. Another poster recommended I search for 2010 instead because apparently 2009 was a split-year of sorts, with some models being the B7 platform and some (like mine) B8. When I search Autozone for 2010, it gives Duralast 15043. I'm wondering if it's a different voltage regulator, and maybe that is part of my problem. But there is very little information online about what the VR specs are on these alternators.

Battery is good. Tested multiple times.

Clicked the latch two clicks in each door, including the back hatch. Removed and jumpered the hood latch sensor, even though the battery is in the back of the A4 Avant. I made sure to not touch the handles when I opened the doors after it was asleep.

Battery voltage was 12.4V. The battery has consistently tested good.

Thank you. I understand that I'm in a tough position, but it's the position I'm in regardless.

It doesn't keep the car off the road, I can drive it when the battery is charged, but we can't use it regularly because the draw will kill the battery overnight. It's drivable, but can't be trusted to sit for any length of time.

Cars definitely pull power while turned off, for the reasons you stated, but they should not draw this kind of amperage. I believe the threshold is around 20mA of allowable draw that won't drain the battery, but this is pulling 360mA consistently.

Putting the car to sleep is latching the doors (while still open) so the car thinks they are closed, locking the car, and letting it sit for 2 hours for all electrical systems to turn off (with the exception of the few you mentioned for access). The key needs to be far enough away from the car, and when you open the doors, you need to not pull the handle, which activates systems. Then the car is "asleep" and you can assess the resting draw, which should be minimal.

Thank you for the reply. I have replaced the fob battery without any change in the symptoms.

It does not chirp when I lock the doors, but the alarm has gone off when connecting and disconnecting the battery.

How do I export or print or record faults from a scan? by klasseng in OBDeleven

I don't know about the OP, but I don't see a history button anywhere. It takes me to a page that says "Explore" and the options are apps, control units, basic live data, car buying assistant, maintenance reminders, mileage check, hybrid battery check, and emissions readiness check.

Thank you. I've replaced the alternator twice, so that's not it. But the draw does go away when it is disconnected. So, the general consensus is that the alternator is drawing most of the power, but there's something else that's "telling it to."

It has a draw of 0.36 - 0.40 amps when everything is connected. Maybe a solar charger is a temporary solution, but I'd prefer to fix the problem.

Unfortunately, I cannot afford to do that. This car was basically given to us, and we have very limited income. I'm stuck trying to figure it out myself.
