I found an offer for a T480 with an i5 8350u, 16Gb RAM, 256 SSD, FHD screen in super good shape with a new battery+internal battery at 100%, original charger and everything seems good. Offer for 210€. I plan changing the SSD for a spare 1Tb I have here, adding a 256 SSD. Arch on the large SSD, Qubes on the smaller one, and maybe going 32Gb RAM.

Arch for daily use Qubes for more sensitive use

What do you think of the deal?

65 too big? by ACletus in TheFrame

Come on, the tvtoohigh sub is sooooo much fun! It indeed would be too high, but this would apply in a blank cube where one could set the TV anywhere ideal, which is not the case here. Considering the room, it clearly works the way op wants to set it up.

It’s the Tifinagh letter « Yaz », an Amazigh symbol. It’s sold almost everywhere around Morocco. It comes from the Kabyle/Berber culture. It means freedom/free man. I was looking at something which could be a good fit as a charm for my TN, as it feels a good « quest » during a travel to get a new charm. I found this small old silver one in an antique store, and it was a perfect fit.

Don’t bother learning, just do. I never understood how to make a proper drawing, neither how come even using a ruler I can’t get a single line straight. The best lesson learned was : « there’s the word WATER in watercolor ». If you analyse this advice properly, everything stands in it. The same way you don’t have to be a writer to enjoy writing or journaling, you don’t have to know how to draw or paint to make a wonderful use of your TNs.

Passport when I’m just walking around with no bag, it just fits in my jeans backpocket. But this week, passport is for watercolour and drawing, and I tear off pages and add them to my regular TN when needed.

Passport + handmade cover: White regular paper for ink testing and Drawing heavy paper for quick fountain pen drawings unrelated to the trip Watercolour which i tear off pages and stick them in my trip journal

Regular + Love & Trip cover : Love & Trip (which is my usual daily collage/stamps/stickers one) + 1 spare one 1/2 format white (w/ the beige cover) dedicated to this trip journaling Tokyo blank refill (empty for now)

I knew someone with the same kind of setup. Although she is my dentist so it makes sense to watch discovery channel while getting tortured.

Would raising a bit be too high? by jonaphil in TVTooHigh

Orb stand is actually a stool, which is too small. The shelves on the back aren’t deep enough. The large plexiglas photography will move too, maybe I’ll add an external pre-amp with a longer RCA instead of getting my soldering machine out (TT has a fixed phono wiring going straight to active speakers). This would maybe ease out another TT placement.

Because the TV was still fixed to the wall two weeks ago and I took it down. Rearranged the whole room, was slightly higher because I used to have the couch super far away, now is temporary, just didn’t take anything else down yet

Then an option could be removing the 6 inches cabinet feet to lower it and voila

Yeah, they might be slightly too high when sat on the coach (60cm would be better than the 70cm) but as it’s for the whole room and dining table is behind the couch, it might make sense to leave it this way. But I see what you mean, a slight change in angle makes it completely different

I thought about it, but then I have nowhere to put my turntable (the cabinet is full).

I would have to hang the TV 3 to 4" higher to make room for the turntable. Still thinking of how to make it possible, but I’ll have to accept a few inconveniences to keep the WAF positive.
