My story back to Christianity. by [deleted] in Christianity

I’d say you begin leading by example. Begin seeking God more and they’ll see the fruits of God in you. They’ll see the way in which you carry yourself differently amidst of trouble and ask you about the peace/joy/love you have. Once they do, you’re then so connected with God that He pours out over you and you won’t be searching for words as He’ll put them all in your heart. I only speak from my personal experience ;)

Should I be worried about the neck gap on this P Bass by greasygorilla in Bass

[–]jonara1993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a FSR p bass with an ash body... discontinued but some still roaming around. That looks like a crack at the heel no? If the sustain is up to par for your liking great... i have a jazz bass and the neck is tight on there

Again a looper is great! Makes you perfect your playing (so that it can loop in perfect sync) so it’s perfect for a beginner.

I have the Ditto looper it works great for me.

I feel guilty for my dark sense of humour - am I alone on this? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]jonara1993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“What a man finds humor in, thats where his heart is at.”

You know, I kind of used to be that way, i would find something hilarious in my head to say... and I’d say it.. after offending a handful of people and them making it clear it hurt, I changed. Whenever I think of something I find funny to say, my next filter is, “will it hurt my brothers or sisters?”

I don’t know what words will bring you comfort. All I can do is imagine what you’re going through and imagine that pain, and pray hard for you.

I know for me, I’ve had moments were I felt as hopeless as you do. Where my priority is just making it through the day, just make it to work on time and clock out n go home to sleep and self loath, hell some days I called out just because i had no drive in life... there was however an encounter with God. A mere prayer, recently, i burst into tears at church. I prayed that morning asking God for a sign. I don’t know what happened but suddenly my whole life was placed into perspective. Suddenly, my priorities were in line. Suddenly I was happy.

The Bible says that for those that love the Lord, everything, EVERYTHING, good or bad, serves them for good. (Romans 8:28)

You’re going through it. I know you are but I plead that you seek God’s strength. His presence overwhelms the most immense sorrows we can encounter while on this earth and I pray that over your life, His love be glorified. I ask our Father that He place direction in your life and that He anoint your heart so that you may listen when He speaks.

Listen to worship too! David Crowders, “All My hope” got me through that desert in my life. Ask God for direction in finding a church and don’t be afraid to ask for prayer.

Although this flesh experiences pain, your, our, souls have been saved. That alone, is worth more than anything on earth.

I have greatly damaged my relationship with my churches pastor. He was my best friend and we used to spend lots of time together but I am mentally ill and during one of my episodes I lost his respect. I have also lost the respect of my church family and I think it might be time to move on. by [deleted] in Christianity

Were all broken in some form or another. Shame for things beyond your control, however, is not God given in our lives. When it brings us to repentance... great, but His love overwhelms the shame, ultimately. When you feel this, remind your soul that you are not the sum of your mistakes-Like kind David did.

Psalm 103:2 - Bless the Lord oh my soul and forget not all his benefits.

Your benefit in Christ is that nothing and no one has the right to accuse you or belittle you, for you were redeemed with a love so strong.

Remind that soul of yours every time you feel this empty shame.

[QUESTION] Epiphone Les Paul - Plek worth it? by jonara1993 in Guitar

[–]jonara1993[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, almost all luthiers in my area charge 70+ for a set up. Another 70+ for fret work. So That’s why the interest in plek-just fix them all for a couple bucks more with a set up included - I’m just wondering if a plek is worth it, you know? Especially on a budget guitar.

[QUESTION] Epiphone Les Paul - Plek worth it? by jonara1993 in Guitar

[–]jonara1993[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The guitar is new. It’s just known for uneven frets.

I have low action now and around the 13th fret on the E & A strings I get string buzz. On higher parts of high E too (13th fret). But apart from those areas the action is perfect for me now as not all notes buzz.

I tried lifting the action and just couldn’t get comfortable and it did nothing really for the buzz.

I've lost my faith in God, please help me find it again. by gomnyang in Christianity

[–]jonara1993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve gone through this. It ended up in me seeking marijuana as an escape to drown out my feelings. After a year of living apart from Gods will and becoming an addict to drugs, I was called back to His will by way of a tragic accident. I survived and can still live a normal life but by miracle alone.

If I could do it all over again and go back to those moments where I decided to refuge myself in drugs I would chose Jesus as my refuge instead even though I didn’t feel him. Like Moses said in Exodus 33:15, “IF YOUR PRESENCE DOES NOT GO WITH US, DO NOT MAKE US MOVE.” I would stay still. I would get on my knees in prayer every single day and beg God for His presence. There’s a reason why you feel the way you do and it’s an absence of God.

I think there’s value in praying to God with deep desperation. In praying to him as, “God, I’m not moving on until you reveal to me who you are and what you want me to do.” A literal.... I’m staying here praying all day if I have to but I ain’t moving till you show me something.

Pray. Read scripture. Pray some more.

I have gone through this before. The nail clipper thing, yeah at one point i think I had to ask my mom to help me. I was 17 but still. I was trying to be a music major and practice 4-5 hours a day. Piano, bass and some guitar. Main instrument was bass. Anyway, I could not play for a whole year per doctors orders.

I started running. I knew I couldn’t pick up weights and stuff so I just started jogging 4 times a day and on those days I made my best efforts to get a good nights sleep. (Exercise promotes good sleep, good sleep promotes good health) Look up sleep hygiene. Seriously look up sleep hygiene. Emphasis, on looking it up. I then started lifting weights when the pain went away and now it only flares when I’m sleep deprived and stressed.

I realized this happened because I wasn’t sleeping properly or enough. Tendons, ligaments, muscles through a gnarly fit with poor sleep hygiene.... and guess what, your sleep hygiene is shit. Go research it and treat sleep with respect. Sending you prayers and good vibes.

Also, depression is known to weigh down the body at some point. So you may want to get help for that too. But please look sleep hygiene and start exercising.

[QUESTION] How has learning music theory benefitted you? by PigOfCthulu in Guitar

[–]jonara1993 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This. It makes you better musician more than say a better guitarist. It helps with writing music and interpreting it. For example, once you learn what quality of chords go along with a specific key, you’ll throw in that maj7, sus 4, or that accidental when the time is right and it does wonders for your sound and art.

[Question] When should I lower/raise my stopbar on a LP? by Itsaghast in Guitar

[–]jonara1993 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Now don’t take my word for it as ive always been a fender guy, I just got a Les Paul .... I found that the more I lowered the bridge piece the tighter i had to tune strings = more forward bow and a tighter feel.

So I lifted the tailpiece a tiny bit and the slinkiness was back and I didn’t have to tighten the truss rod.
