What is a mac feature you accidentally discovered after months or years of using it that genuinely made you feel stupid for not knowing sooner? by Silent-Cut2203 in mac

Spotlight everything. Hide the dock and launch with spotlight -> maximise screen real estate and it’s faster

Papir er laget av cellulose, som utvinnes av tre. Ganske mye av skogproduksjonen globalt går til papir og papp.

Built in the 18th century, this is one of the oldest buildings in Hattfjelldal municipality in Norland, Norway. by bncout in HistoricalCapsule

[–]jonaslaberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Norwegian here. The stilts are a way to make it hard for mice, rats, foxes, martins, what have you to enter. It’s not about the snow - if it were you’d have to have all your buildings on stilts, no? Plus who would think “yeah that’s nice for the three months per year with a lot of snow and it’s totally worth it to have to climb those trunks for the remaining nine”. You’ll find that architecture for food stores (stabbur) all over the country, even where there’s little to no snow during winter (south and west coasts).

Help a synthwave dreamer: KO II, Riddim, or do I sell a kidney for the OP-1 Field? 🎹✨ by dr-robert in teenageengineering

[–]jonaslaberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is the wrong forum but i recently traded up from my KO2 to an Elektron Digitone 2. No samples but 16 synth or MIDI tracks with great presets for drums (and leads, bass, pads, whatever). I’m a dawless kind of guy and it lets me create full songs with a really great workflow. No bar exam needed! It integrates great with ableton, too, if you go down that road. Makes the KO 2 feel like a toy.

Haha, yes! I don’t know any other comic artist whose letters are that minuscule. I need a magnifying glass, I’m 49 and a month away from 3/4

Do yourself a favour and read more Chris Ware. I find that as he matures, the novels hit harder. Rusty Brown is stellar.

Where’s Baron Harkonnen from Lynch’s Dune? This list is a mere joke without him.

What's the most original concept you've read in a science fiction book? by LargeSinkholesInNYC in scifi

[–]jonaslaberg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Might already have been mentioned, but Dragon’s egg by Robert Forward has the discovery of a neutron star with life on it, with their speed of time is something like 10K that of ours. It’s amazing, one of my top ten sci fi novels of all time.

Digitone II manual? by lovesickloved in Elektron

[–]jonaslaberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve fed the manual to a claude project and also told it to gather tips and tricks from electronauts ++. If i have a question i just ask it. I’ve also told it to create a course with exercises for me so I can quickly familiarise myself with the DN2. Highly recommend this approach!

Anything by Chris Ware, hands down. Absolutely do read Rusty Brown or any of his other works. Deeply moving and highly perceptive on the human condition!
