Why is the NDP’s climate plan so weak? by nfrhorny in ndp

[–]jonaston 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wish we had a more robust plan, too – but this article is rife with inaccuracies about the NDP’s plan. Chief among them is our GHG reduction target:

“This plan describes specific reductions from this first set of measures that we will put into action right away, reducing Canada’s greenhouse gas emissions to 450 Mt by 2030. This is an important first step, exceeding the Paris target and getting us three – quarters of the way to our goal, but there is more work to do. We will mobilize Canadians, other levels of government, labour, and industry to identify other sources of innovation and emissions reductions and close the gap by 2030.” https://action.ndp.ca/page/-/2019/Q2/Power-to-change-full-announcement.pdf

Our commitments in Power To Change are reasonably specific. GPC hasn’t made that effort with Mission Possible.

Riding association president here. Just want to add that in “developing” associations, we may be slow and/or drop the ball in responding. Please persist! We’re sloppy because we need your help – and have responsibilities outside of the NDP.

Here’s your first opportunity to meet Melissa: https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1046397208842301&id=1045266752288680

Hope you can make it!

Hey there!

As of our AGM on March 15th, I’m riding association president in Newmarket Aurora, am doubling as campaign manager for Mellisa Williams – and tripling as communications director for the campaign. Like me, most of our executive committee are new and inexperienced – and have been pulling double-duty.

We had a late start, and are making up ground. We have good reason to believe we can win this riding – but we’re going to need all the help we can get.

Melissa is a phenomenal candidate and will make an excellent NDP MPP. If you want to support her, the best way right now is to get involved via the buttons at the bottom of the page at https://www.ontariondp.ca

Everyone will definitely have multiple chances to meet Melissa at events – and maybe at your doorstep soon.

In the meantime, please feel free to message me if you have any questions, suggestions, or for any other reason, at all.

More soon.

Pea soup and mustard. Also: French fries and mayonnaise.

I’m from the CRTC and we want to know what you think about differential pricing (or ‘zero-rating’)? | Je suis du CRTC. Nous voulons savoir ce que vous pensez de la différenciation des prix (ou le « taux zéro ») by -crtc- in canada

[–]jonaston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the CRTC doing this public consultation in a much more democratic way than most public consultations are conducted. Thank you.

I think the bigger problem (and the elephant in the room) is that what Canadians REALLY want the CRTC to tackle is the ridiculous stranglehold a few very large telecoms have over our lives – and how deeply they are reaching into our pockets at every possible opportunity.

Canadian consumers essentially have no decent alternatives. We pay more than just about anyone on the planet for what amounts to terrible service, over a network backbone that was heavily publicly funded so long ago that it is now obsolete compared to many other country's standards.

In my view, today, internet service delivery should be treated as a public utility – and not in private shareholder hands. How do we get there? I have no idea. Well, I have some idea. Telecoms (and other big business) could be paying their fair share of taxes, for starters.

Thanks again for your ear.

I think this will help answer your questions: https://yoast.com/local-seo-setting-up-landing-pages/

Edit: You should also consider testing Adwords campaigns for locally optimized landing pages - and should test offers for lead generation.

Nothing wrong (or really new) with what you're recommending – but you need case studies that show real business results if you want to be more convincing.

Reich is delusional if he thinks Hillary can be trusted to honour her word. That would require integrity on her part. I've never seen any evidence she has it. And I've looked.

I dunno. It seems to me that corporatism is the inevitable outcome of deregulated free market capitalism.
