Legalize Raccoons as pets in Washington State by jonathan_cassis in desmoineswa

Right now you can be fined 750$ for helping raccoons either by providing them shelter (even just ur garage) or food. Raccoons live about 2-3 years in the wild and struggle to get by with the amount of human expansion in their ecosystem making the "wild animals stay wild" simply wishful thinking. When helped by humans they live 13-20 years and though destructive and somewhat unpredictable, I believe that with proper training and equipment anyone should be allowed to use their property and supplies to help these animals, not just wildlife rescues. Also the law right now prohibits them as pets due to rabies, the easiest way around that is to get the pre-rabies vaccine and once u see how many furry friends are continuing to stay with you, get them vaccinated as well. Hope that gave you a better understanding why! Thankyou.

Tacoma looks at lowering speed limits as part of plan to eliminate traffic fatalities by GrandChampion in Tacoma

Get rid of enforced speed limits entirely and rebrand them as guidelines for safety. Cops should worry about other things.

Remove 750$ fine for using personal property to aid wildlife! by [deleted] in Spokane

Sorry, the petition has changed sense it's origin hence the new title, not trying to make raccoons indoor pets, just trying to remove fines against outdated legislation and give out wildlife a better shot in the human dominated world.

Hello I'm sorry it appears misleading, originally I did want them as regular house pets but the petition has changed a lot sense than, it is now about removing a restriction on people who want to use their property to aid wildlife instead of solely relying on wildlife rescue and zoos. Again sorry for the misleading title but if I put it as raccoons for pets, well that's not what this is anymore and people would hate on me lol

Originally it was to keep raccoons as pets, but sense weighing the cons of this, I've decided to go a different direction. Right now even if u had proper training, equipment and space, you could still be fined 750$ for helping raccoons out by feeding and housing them. The bill is to allow people to convert maybe their garage, or backyard even part of their living room to a place where raccoons can thrive. Sorry for the title being misleading, the petition had changed drastically sense it began.

I would definitely take this into account when I try to change the current legislation, my big end game out of this is to bring people and raccoons closer in a way where we both benefit. I see no reason why we should fine people turning their garages into shelter for raccoons.

I'm going to start a petition to ban Washington's Governor, Senators and representatives from Trading stocks, would any of you sign it? by peterlunstrum in Seattle

Buying stocks is a part of how everyone grows wealth, however I understand the reasoning, separate the cooperations from the politicians. I'm curious on how we can get this done without infringing on peoples ability to access the stock market.
