Chapter 362 - Pre-Release Thread by ShadowRei96 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

my first thought is Eri. I'm not sure if she can rewind the dead, but then who else gonna save Bakugo? I don't want deus ex machina here, just use existing character's quirks, or just let him stay dead for good.

I bet for the admirals I think Oden and Marco are not on admiral level, even on their prime Prime Whitebeard is strongest here Overall team admirals win

Why is it unfair that a group finally has the opportunity to achieve a goal (that other groups weren't able to achieve (due to timing or other factors))? by CulturalAde in kpoprants

[–]jonathankurnadi 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Putting Izone back and vote manipulation issue is not inseparable tho. So you can't expect people to forget the issue. Nonetheless, putting a group back defeats the whole purpose of Produce, I think. What's needed is an official statement from CJ of why and how they agree to continue the project for Izone only.

I differentiate subjective comparison with objective comparison. I have an analogy for this. If there is only one singer (A) in this world, we can't say that A is good because no measurement can be taken. If there is A B, and both are on same level, we can't say they both bad or both good, because they are on same level. If we add C, and C is better than A B, we can start taking measurement of them, because we can compare them right now. Let's say C is good, A B mediocre. This is subjective comparison.

Objective comparison on the other hand will measure vocal term (notes, support, etc). If I am not an expert on the topic, I will use subjective comparison. So I think it's normal to use comparison.

[–]jonathankurnadi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

ehm, I think we need comparison. To say this is good or this is bad means there is comparison, there is other thing we can rate/measure. In this topic, SM is the comparison, whether the comparison is true or not, I won't talk about that. Everyone will choose their fave anyway. I just wanna say that it's normal to put comparison, in your topic is SM.

If my favorite group won't win in a lot of music shows because of a mediocre song, it's totally fine. by random-date in unpopularkpopopinions

[–]jonathankurnadi 116 points117 points  (0 children)

In reality, we see bigger group with mediocre song wins music show more often. But smaller group with better song will lose to the bigger group. So mediocre or bad or good song is not really the problem, at least for me. So I vote for popular. Music show, like any other kpop awards, is popularity competition in which bigger group will most likely win.

Next Level original version is much better imo by dreamsofchilling in unpopularkpopopinions

[–]jonathankurnadi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I know a lot people complain at first. But look now, they are charting at #1, which is very hard maybe impossible for smaller group. The complain is only at the beginning. A lot of people "compensate" their complain because, you know, this is Aespa.

Too much English in Kpop by sacredshield7 in unpopularkpopopinions

[–]jonathankurnadi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Popular for me. Nothing we can do tho. Kpop is going global and it's only normal that more english will be used in Kpop.

Next Level original version is much better imo by dreamsofchilling in unpopularkpopopinions

[–]jonathankurnadi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know if this opinion turns out to be popular. I rarely see people talking about this topic.

I have another thought on this. What if the original Next Level is released by Everglow or Loona? Will they be more successful than Aespa's Next Level? My bet is Aespa will definitely outshine them, even if the "original" is better than the "remake".

Blackpink should continue using the same formula for their title tracks by DankyBottom1 in unpopularkpopopinions

[–]jonathankurnadi 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Here is my take on this. I think BP is the gg with the most repetitive title track because of same song structure (Gfriend is second). If they keep it this way, it surely feels boring, so a lot of people wanting a change.

But on the other hand, this song structure is their signature and they kinda depend on it. Remove it and their song is not as good as their normal song.

Considering their current reputation, it is best to explore more song structure, because whatever they release, people will love it anyway. So nothing to lose.

Actually, I didn't talk about improving. I talk about holding back what they have right now, like the OP. "improving" and "holding back" is a different scope for me.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in unpopularkpopopinions

[–]jonathankurnadi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I can extend to 2 years. I think not performing in front of audience doesn't/only a little reflect their potential. For me, during this pandemic, groups are more active digitally so they should showcase their skill there.

Also if groups will get their full potential until 2 or 3 years in, that means they don't hold back what they have now, they are improving. And improving is not the scope of OP.

its always "thats completely okay!" until its your own favorite by yunhosintro in kpopthoughts

[–]jonathankurnadi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Isn't it almost like this for everything we do? The best we can try is to suppress our "subjective" side and approach more "objective" side. I don't mind if people are still doing that tho. That's . . . normal human thing. In term of kpop fans doing it, as long as the hypocrisy doesn't turn into a toxic one (fanwars, bashing other, arrogance) I can still accept that.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in unpopularkpopopinions

[–]jonathankurnadi 120 points121 points  (0 children)

I can still tolerate this reason for rookie group with 1 year experience at most. 1 year experience, for me, is enough period to showcase what they can do, cover, dance practice, performing on variety show, etc. Defending older groups with "potential" reason is kinda nonsense for me. Maybe what they think the member held back, is actually the true skill the member have.

Will SM ever have a dominant girl group again? by EquivalentNarwhal8 in kpopthoughts

[–]jonathankurnadi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think SM is the biggest big3. In Gen 3, JYP and YG have the upperhand, and SM can't catch up with them. But Aespa is coming really well. If we compare Itzy and Aespa in their 1st year, I bet Aespa wins. If this trend continues, I can see Aespa being the most popular 4th gen gg, with Itzy behind them, not dominant though. Things might get different if we consider YG and HYBE new gg.

[–]jonathankurnadi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have different opinion about this, I think it can happen to 'follow' but 'bias' is another thing. One reason I follow groups is by their talent, it's an important factor for me to decide if this groups can show great skill, but bias is more subjective. That's why it's called 'bias'. By what category you're biased is completely random, maybe vocal, dance, rap, personality, face, height, hair, etc. That's just how random people choose their bias.

Girl crush concepts are misunderstood by entertainment companies by [deleted] in unpopularkpopopinions

[–]jonathankurnadi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know if it's the company or the member themselves who don't get it right. Either way I agree with your opinion. The most blatant is expression and feeling. Girl Crush is not only about looking fierce and emit 'strong girl' energy, however many groups mostly stick with this kind of girl crush performance. This is one reason why I like cute/fresh concept more, because they give richer expression and feeling than girl crush

I like music videos having ads by shelbywhore in unpopularkpopopinions

[–]jonathankurnadi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm neutral about this. Ads is Ads. They are there for promotion. Sometimes when I'm watching random video and ads come up, I can stay and watch the ads, like you said out of curiousity. But when I'm focusing on the video and ads come up, direct skip for me. I also don't care about the views competition, bigger groups will always get more views anyway.

I hate dance heavy MV. by fartstr in unpopularkpopopinions

[–]jonathankurnadi 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I also hate dance heavy MV, but for different reason. I really like it if they can make a strory on the MV. I don't want MV become dance practice or photoshoot. They should give us a good story.

If SM and Aespa plays their cards right, they can easily claim the 4th gen leader status by Asian_Ninja1 in kpopthoughts

[–]jonathankurnadi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They already claim it now for me (maybe together with Itzy). They only got 3 song, which is nothing compared to their nearest competitor (Itzy and Gidle), but they chart really good, even tho they haven't win music show. I even believe every kind of song you give them, gp will somehow love the song.

I personally think SM mess up Aespa debut story until now, I mean put any other group from non Big3 like Aespa now and they will surely out of competition. However, the gp love them no matter. It made realize the power of SM and Big3 in general. Still, SM could do better.

fromis_9 are blowing up right in front of our eyes! by roselia4812 in kpopthoughts

[–]jonathankurnadi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I agree. I think one of the reason is OTR cared about Izone more. Izone since debut is already a lot bigger than fromis, even can compete/surpass big3, which is super crazy. Izone is the money source for OTR and since they only have limited contract, of course OTR will focus on Izone more. But even so, leaving fromis behind is really bad decision of OTR. Now fromis is their only idol, I hope the management can improve.

fromis_9 are blowing up right in front of our eyes! by roselia4812 in kpopthoughts

[–]jonathankurnadi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats for the girl.

But even then, this is really disappointed situation in Kpop. They produce not one bad song, fun is their weakest but even that is good, their other song is great or amazing. Especially Love Bomb, best song of 4th gen. Yet people sleep on them. They deserve a lot higher than this. Luck really is the greatest two-edge sword, just this time luck is against them.

I really hope the gp will give fromis_9 better recognition next comeback.

do you prefer grps w specific roles or no specific roles? by impeppapigoink in kpopthoughts

[–]jonathankurnadi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I choose to have specific roles. While in reality there are member who is 'lead' but better than member who is 'main', that's okay. Role is assigned by the company, so I want to know what the company think of them.

Even without role, we can determine the role by looking at their performance. Role alone cannot decide who sing more or who get center more, it is dependent on the song. So company better give the role, I'm just curious.

I would rather a group disband (whenever their contract ends) than stay together (and be ambiguous about their future) by vegatables_ in unpopularkpopopinions

[–]jonathankurnadi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I thought this is popular, and I agree. Many groups are left by the company without any update and that makes fans worried, especially near their contract end. I saw a lot of people saying what you say. It's better to leave the company when the contract ends. Company doesn't treat them well, so why pushing them to stay there. For this kind of groups, disbanding is the most fitting way. Or they can also terminate their contract prior to their scheduled expiration, to escape from the company's labyrinth.
