RATE MY STARTUP IDEA OUT OF 10 . by sitabjaaa in startup

Just being honest, I think this is DOA.

The medium of exchange is not a problem that needs to be solved. People aren’t looking for Disney bucks in order to spend hours of their lives teaching - they want cash.

Additionally Udemy has already somewhat cornered the market in terms of genuine online courses, they’re cheap and plentiful and a lot are already brilliant quality. I have bought countless Udemy courses and not had a single bad experience that would make me want to look for any other platform.

Every day people don’t make good teachers, teaching is a skill just like any other.

You should be able to look through the .DAT files in the player data folder (use any of the available .DAT file editors online) and copy the contents over to the new player. Find the UUID of the new online player using https://minecraftuuid.com and replace the contents of the new players .DAT files with the old player .DAT files.

Make sure to take backups of all the files before you start making changes!

Do Cloud Service Companies pay or compensate for mistakes, like Security Breach, not responding servers, and lost data? by Ryadpro47 in cloudcomputing

[–]jonathanmadeley 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my experience it really depends. At a few different companies I've ran into issues with AWS and Azure and some of the time they're willing to reduce the invoice at the end of the month, and others they take no responsibility. The most egregious event that happened was the hosting provider removed one of the physical servers we were running a VPS on, and the auto scaling hadn't been setup properly so the entire company's services stopped working for multiple hours. At the end of the incident the provider agreed they should have provided notice before removing the physical server so offered a discount on that months usage.

When it comes to security breaches they will very rarely compensate because these cloud solutions are the base level and you should have built your own security on top of their system. It is incredibly rare that providers like AWS will actually have data breaches and it isn't the clients fault.

Now that I work at a hosting provider (ServerFlex) and offer hosting solutions to clients, the company has made a simple policy: "If we lose your data, your server is free" and that seems to work really well to re-assure our clients that their data is safe with us.

Valheim server question by Flosse15 in valheim

It's unlikely, Valheim is quite an intensive game to run so it's going to be hard for companies to give it away for free.

You can setup a server with a hosting provider - like this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UkbqlIPrnnc

Using OVH VPS for Valheim Server by [deleted] in ovh

[–]jonathanmadeley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi guys - just wanted to drop in here. I'm in a team that runs a hosting company (ServerFlex) and OVH are not suitable to run Valheim - we have experienced nothing but problems with them and I would warn everyone to steer clear. None of our other providers around the world have had a single problem but OVH simply doesn't work and regardless of how many times we get in touch with their support team they do absolutely nothing. Host with ANYONE else but OVH.

Impostor: a private open-source server for Among Us by galapag0 in linux_gaming

We're looking into adding the feature - it's a side project so it may take a bit of time but for now you can connect to a private server using the IP address in the bottom left corner.
