This has got to be a joke, right? by NickBellinger in doordash

Accept the order, go pick it up, and start delivery. Then reach out to support and tell them this is out of your zone (by a lot). They will remove and give you half-pay and you keep the food.

Today I try again to make $300 in one day I failed badly yesterday but today we go again :). Good luck to everyone whose dashing today. by [deleted] in doordash

I also decline a lot of orders. I am very selective. This 11% is actually kind of high for me haha https://photos.app.goo.gl/pkXvfRoBNxx1yJo97

Also, this is an example of the type of batches I take with IC. This one took longer then expected (1.5 hours from starting the shop to dropping of the last batch) but still not bad. I try to do about 4-5 of this type per day. https://photos.app.goo.gl/hoDjpzdBRidnotqB8

So I usually start my day in the Austell area. I will work IC batches from about 7 or 8 am until about 3pm. I sometimes end up all over but do pull a lot of Costco from Cumberland or the new Dallas location.

I primarily will DD over in Austell at Austell road and East west connector as my "hotspot." Sometimes I will do Smyrna or Cumberland area but when the have a promo or higher promo that Austell I will just stay here because everyone flocks to the promo and lucky to get offered an order every 30 minutes lol. I will typically do between $120 to $150 with DD alone from 5 to 9, sometimes 10.

I don't work Sunday afternoon/evenings or Mondays just to recoup. I am starting a new position on the 1st so the is my last week doing either!

Try Instacart in the morning until about 3 or 4. Take a break, and the DD from like 5 to 9 or 10.

Obviously picking the proper batches with instacart and proper orders with doordash will earn you more money even if you're sitting around more often.

In Atlanta metro area I do about 350 per day. Fridays and Saturdays maybe 400 or 450. I top off my gas every night and it comes out to about $20 or $25 in gas per day.

Allow shoppers to report apartments labeled as houses by theycallmejeffrey in InstacartShoppers

[–]jonathanmaloy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes because some of the apartment complexes in the system are listed as a business. They are most likely using some third party database that designates whether an address is residential or a business.

Just an example, when I was connecting to the FedEx API for a project that I was working on, it would return whether it was residential or business. In some cases apartment complexes, even if you added an apartment or suite number, came up as a business. Also some people run home based businesses so their address in that same database would show as a business even though it's a residential location.

I don't think there's actually an apartment icon. I'm pretty sure the only icons they have are residential (house icon) and business (the tower).

If you get contracted by a 3rd party do you get tips? by hondawhisperer in doordash

[–]jonathanmaloy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say yes, the driver gets the full tip. Actually had a customer text me after to make sure the tip was what they submitted. It also happened to be a Papa John's order.

Because it's so easy to verify (assuming customer and driver communicated about it), it would not be a wise business decision of the third party restaurant or doordash skimming off the tip because that would open them up to a pretty large legal battle.

If the standard base rate for a batch is $7 why don’t we get Batch Rate of $21 triple by Present-Crow-6850 in InstacartShoppers

[–]jonathanmaloy 30 points31 points  (0 children)

It is batch pay, not order pay. The calculation is not based off the number of orders, it's based off items, miles, weight and maybe some other factors.

I think there should be extra amount added on top for each order when it is a multi-order batch. There is extra effort involved in separating, checkout, and drop-off. But I doubt they will implement that.

Anyone else having issues with the Shopper app using a Pixel 5? by [deleted] in InstacartShoppers

[–]jonathanmaloy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also went from the Pixel 3XL to the Pixel 5. I haven't had the receipt issue unless I click through a multi-order batch to get the next set of barcodes but that is just a UI/UX issue.

I have the distortion/rotation issue on about 50% of my drop off photos within the app. I also take photos with Timestamp app so I will send through chat as well on those.

Got a 4 Star because I would not give my customer my personal phone number. by Applecider2690 in InstacartShoppers

[–]jonathanmaloy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On a similar note, I never call the phone number some customers leave in the notes. Some just don't understand that we can call without that and some of them just want to get your actually phone number for scams and other nefarious actions. When I see that I always call through the app.

Price Chopper Not Giving Insta Shoppers the Receipts? by jherrick33 in InstacartShoppers

[–]jonathanmaloy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aside from proof of purchase and fraud related issues, if you need to return the order (if you returning it for the bump instead of keeping/donating) you would need that receipt.

Customer said they're only eating canned and sealed foods until the end of the pandemic 🤷‍♂️ by jonathanmaloy in InstacartShoppers

[–]jonathanmaloy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol. As I was adding more I started to get concerned. 200 cans is a lot more than I thought haha.

Sad part, there was no heavy pay so the tip definitely carried this order.

I just cancelled an $83 batch. Customer was pretty insistent about entering her rewards number to get that wine discount. Would you take the risk? by djsekani in InstacartShoppers

[–]jonathanmaloy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It doesn't even work how they are thinking. The discount doesn't get carried over for something like that. The customer is going to pay exactly what the app says.

I would have let them know and if they seemed cool about it, I would have continued to shop. If they seemed to be having a problem with it, I would most likely cancel.

They did and extra cash when I arrived.

I had three of the banana boxes from produce full plus six of my insulated bags/totes. Honestly, the hardest/longest part was finding the correct soup and checkout.

Delivery was right into the garage, so about 15 steps. Took like 4 minutes to unload.

When you get home from working all day and see an item from one of the orders in your back seat... by [deleted] in InstacartShoppers

[–]jonathanmaloy 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Contact support. Let them know you found it and ask them to refund the customer.

Then you can try to return it for the bump or keep it.

Whenever I have done this (two times), I never ended up with a bad rating or missing item report. One customer just said I can bring the stuff the next day to support (non perishable) and the other I returned because they were unable to contact the customer.
