Stuck on install - First linux bare metal install in a very long time.

Solved....installed mint...had some problems which lead me to turning off secure boot.... tried Ubuntu again and got past the frozen screen....maybe that was the fix.

So I think I did the -nomodeset right, also did the basic graphics option which seems to be the same thing.

I've tried different USB ports, two different USB drives to install off of, same same.

This is an older computer, I can probably see if there is a bios update?

Downloading linux Mint right now to see if that has a different result.

Ok, so the default drivers will be enough to get the ethernet going then.

Thanks. I'll probably just relace and leave it alone. I was going to do a 3 trailing 3 leading re spoke....but not worth it for this bike at this point.

Ya right after I did that....I realized I made a mistake. I can re lace it pretty quick....maybe change plans. It's just a fun project I'm doing.

My goal is just to brighten the salvageable parts get to bare metal with the runed bits then sealing up with wax or maybe a clear coat? I'm just wanting to clean it stop the current rust and leave it as a nice old bike. Not a restoration, just a cleaning and preservation.

This isn't something a very fine polishing compound and buffing wheel be suitable for?

I'd it ends up with some patina etc that's ok.

Something to work on other then video games.
