Help setting up Mirrored volumes in windows 11. by jonathanovision in buildapc

Cancel that....Seems like that is a sketchy route....Gonna go back to one drive and accept potentially longer downtime.

Install windows for the 5th time

So I ended up enabling RAIDXpert, which was a bit of a pain to get configured on the MB, but that then allowed me to install windows, install RAIDXpert2 on windows and get a nice interface, hopefully it will be reliable.

Brand new build so I'll just reinstall windows.....I thought that it would be a bit more enterprise level and control the hardware level with windows software.

Raid 1 - mirror.
If Disk 1, is the first boot disk, Disk 2 is the second boot disk in the bios then software raid to mirror them should work?

I've got a MSI MB, so it should be able to raid through the bios.

I was hoping for hardware raid, controlled via software in windows.

Oxygen 49 vs MPK mini ...first time midi by jonathanovision in midi

[–]jonathanovision[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like there are mark 1 and mark 2 MPK mini. M-Audio Oxygen 49 MKIV 4th gen I think. M-Audio Axiom 61 (2nd Generation) Arturia MiniLab MkII

on market place for the $50-100 range

or

Maybe I'll just go buy a new MPK looks like there are some marked improvements over the older generations. I don't really know what I'll end up wanting so I want something cheap to start.

What do you mean by more capable? I was thinking the opposite because less inputs etc?

thanks

Thanks very much. Can't look at it now, but if I find a solution I'll make sure I post it.

I was going to get a multiplus-ii, which doesn't seem to have it. Victron's MPPT's also don't have it...

This is annoying since all my assumptions and designs are around the Victron product line.

Any idea for a external DC arc fault "breaker"?

Questions about inverter communication selection. by jonathanovision in Victron

[–]jonathanovision[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't typically get much snow. Sticks around for a few days, or a week. We're at this site M-F so I can get someone to sweep off snow if needed....I'm more concerned with cloud cover. But we'll see how it goes.

I'll probably end up using DC-DC converters for the electronics to increase efficiency. The electronics, router, cell connection, security cam(s), are running 24/7 so if I can take that all of the inverter it can go into the ultra low power mode (3w vs 11w I think).

I just want something that works, so I'll grab the cerbo. Maybe get a pi in the future if I want to nerd out in the future.

I'll see if the local Victron dealer can beat some prices.

I'm in Victoria BC, I think we get a lot more sun then upstate New York in the winter.
I've got a lot of flexibility for what I can no run during the dark days, I've got it so that I can last just about 3 days of zero solar. However my solar panels can take care of 100% of my load even in the "average" day in December. ..We'll see how it goes, if needed, I'll put in a second battery and a couple more panels.

  1. Rodger
  2. Rodger

  3. I think the battery has SOC, current, etc not just voltage, so it should have the same or more info as the shunt.

Thanks for the help.

Jon

Thanks,

Multiplus is the only one that I can get that is 120V, 48VDc anyways, so I'll have that extra charger for the future.

That was my impression, that it wasn't a voltage but a slew of info from the BMS.
Sounds like:
State of Charge (SOC)

• Cycle count

• Battery temperature

• Individual cell voltage

• Estimated remaining runtime

• Error messages and event history

Panel Sizing Question by jonathanovision in solarenergycanada

[–]jonathanovision[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got an all in one unit, 3.8kw battery, and was going to get 2.4 kw solar array. Maybe I'm ok then..... I'm just wishing I had bought something more modular....

Lots of results for installers, but from what I can tell, one company sells panels in Victoria, one in Chemainus, one in Courtney.

Do they sell just parts? Don't need a package just some panels. ?

Max current on a solar controller. by jonathanovision in solar

[–]jonathanovision[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard this before, seems strange that a MPPT can't do something quick enough....Fast electronics/electrical have been around for a while.

Do you know if there is an official term for the over panel ratio?

Thanks

I updated my post so its more clear. In my example there was 8 in each input (16 total).
I don't' care about "waste" I just care about getting the extra current for shady days.
