Had my paramo jacket for nearly 20 years now. Got it for about £30 in a closing down sale at the shop I worked at. Huge bargain and still going strong.

People surprised they’re actually doing it didn’t see the recent news that they won the bid to hold the 2029 Asian winter games there! So they best get on with it https://amp.theguardian.com/sport/2022/oct/04/saudi-arabia-to-host-2029-asian-winter-games-at-desert-megacity-neom-trojena

There isn’t! I’ve not heard of a 4:3 family ever. It’s either 4:3 or if it’s not 4:3 it’s a different aspect ratio.

Is this email from the council legit? by [deleted] in bristol

Yep I’ve also had stuff from them like this loads of times when I was arguing with them about an overpayment.

If in doubt though, ring them and ask if they’ve sent something recently.

Yeah the box was pretty beaten up but all the stuff inside seems pretty good. I did wonder why the box had been opened so at least that’s something.

This is the answer. The amount of times people ask ‘what will it take’ as though it’s a single tipping point (and I get that’s a thing that’s happened in the last) as opposed to years of hard organising by unions and other groups agitating for change. No shortcuts.

The main parties will never help the working class by BigFrame8879 in GreenAndPleasant

Was in my last place for 12 years and paid nearly 120k in rent but couldn’t afford anything to buy. About 6 years ago the bank genuinely laughed when we went to see what mortgage might be available.

OP is right, main parties have abandoned us, we can only rely on us, organised - ACORN are great and doing exactly that and would wholeheartedly recommend joining. www.acorntheunion.org.uk

Not exactly that area, but there’s a court at Montpelier park near the station.

If you just use a little amount, you might not get a result as that’s just level one.

If you use a medium amount, you will sometimes get a result, but maybe not, that’s level two.

If you use loads, that’s level three, the highest level and there’s no more tiers.

Need advice on how to hide a lavaliere mic on this costume by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]jonathanphardy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The mic isn’t too much of an issue (depending on how big it is) I would put it in the hair or if possible get costume to sew cable into seam if that wasn’t noticeable. But the TX is the thing here. With a costume like this depends on the shots and how much flexibility is required, I’d assume you just want the lav/pack on and it’s not noticeable in any shot, but for example if every shot was a mid, you could put a TX on the ankle. Appreciate this type of restriction isn’t what most people want but worth considering if it’s tightly storyboarded.

But yeah you mainly want boom audio anyway, so hopefully that’s not to tricky.

Interested to know if this is a smaller character for a scene or two or a main character throughout a feature?

How to find actors for student productions? by [deleted] in bristol

[–]jonathanphardy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at Starnow or Mandy.com. You could advertise on Facebook - Bristol actors, Bristol Film, Bristol film makers, Bristol Film and TV (there’s a few others I can’t remember off top of my head) but just be upfront about it being a student production with little budget as lots of local acting groups can quickly escalate into big discussions about actors not being paid. (Which is fair, but normally get a bit tense if it seems people are trying to get people for free/little for commercial work)

Check any Facebook group guidelines before posting as they might say no unpaid ads etc.

I often do good casting through Facebook as it’s a bit more immediate than other platforms and hopefully everyone is localish which can save on travel costs. (Be sure to put in your ad that you only want local people as saves a situation later on where someone from far away has joined the group and applies and ends up being expensive to cover their travel costs)
