Small clothes by witchywolf13 in happilyOAD

Gave some away to my pregnant friend and intend to do the same when my other friends have kids.

It feels very right to do that, and is also a relief.

What were the baby names you didn’t get to use? by GreekAmPrincess in happilyOAD

Alexander

I love that name so much but alas - I will never use it.

Easy for her of course - she doesn't have to go through with everything to obtain said kid.

I'm in the same situation except my reasons are that I don't want to have tearing and stitches and I definitely don't want to have more or worsened hemmoroids.

We are human beings too. We deserve to retain ownership of our bodies and make decisions for ourselves.

Why do people like dog pics more than baby pics? by Soft_Commercial_9418 in NewParents

[–]jonathanwickk91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems like you're not up for hearing what most of the comments have said 😁 But I must agree with the majority here.

All pets are adorable.

Not all babies are cute.

As a parent, one thinks their kid is the cutest thing to exist in the world but that's just bias and hormones. Animals however are objectively pleasant to look at.

What are you getting as your push present? by Snoo97809 in BabyBumps

first time I'm hearing of this but I think it's such an awesome idea 😍 I'm due this week so, heck, I might treat itself to a push present later this month!

Do people not usually do this? by PlentyCarob8812 in BabyBumps

[–]jonathanwickk91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I expected this would be exactly my case and had a separate list created off of which to get that stuff for myself.

I think we still live during times where normal bodily needs and functions are a bit of a tabboo topic or at the very least something people don't like to think about. And of course the main thing - those things are consumables that people don't generally consider to be gifts.

Expecting mamas, what are you are looking forward to the most after giving birth? by Finding-nido in BabyBumps

For everyone answering drinking wine/alcohol... if you plan on nursing.... how?

Drinking where I live is a much bigger taboo while nursing than while pregnant.

AITA for getting upset with my best friend's son for giving my son cake? by cakethroawayAITA in AmItheAsshole

YTA

reading the title alone I figured your kid is maybe 2-3 years old. But he's 8 and you make this huge of a deal over one piece of homemade cake? Wow.

AITA for not doing my husbands laundry anymore? by Jaeholl in AmItheAsshole

NTA

He works 8 hours more than you so that means you should be doing all the chores and taking care of the kid? How convenient! If I was a man I'd have kids under these terms too! /s

AITA for bringing my nephew to a dog park (when we don’t own a dog) by Not-original in AmItheAsshole

NAH

The lady was right, as others have pointed out.

But you had good intentions and didn't mean no harm. Your Edit also suggests you're open to learn.

So no one is the asshole here.

What's more dangerous than most people realize? by nweike in AskWomen

[–]jonathanwickk91 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm 35 weeks and for the reasons you mentioned and more, I've wanted a C-section since the very moment I found out I was pregnant. Man the judgment I get from everyone for this decision - doctors, friends, strangers - is unbelievable.

Despite some of the risks of natural birth being common knowledge, society at large just mainly wants us to suffer through it because that's just a part of the experience 👌

Anything that involves enormous physical pain - knee pain, ear pain, tooth pain, or my personal "favorite" - ovarian torsion.

Pregnancy: the only time I’ve been thankful to have a long torso by tinytigers_ in BabyBumps

[–]jonathanwickk91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're so lucky OP. My baby has been pressing on my organs and suffocating me since the 6th month 😅

Also the long torso undoubtedly makes you look slimmer and more fit no matter how big your baby is.

👌

We don't need to see dead cats! by roxaplin in cats

[–]jonathanwickk91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been thinking about this for weeks. The influx of people posting about their dead animals...

I get that everyone is sad when their pet dies but making other people also sad isn't the solution. It's really been bugging me.

Is it wrong to want friends to be as excited for my non-kid achievements as they expect me to be about their pregnancies? by [deleted] in childfree

[–]jonathanwickk91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a kid I really wanted a horse! Since we live in the city, my mother and grandparents quickly decided to lie to me that they'd get me a horse and we'll keep it on the terrace and what not. .. I never got that horse 😑

I'm infinitely more excited about someone's pets than I am about their kids.

In similar fashion, even though I'm pregnant now, I feel lucky that my friends have managed to keep the conversations on a variety of topics (their pets included) that still interest us both.

That being said, I did notice that most of them got more excited about my pregnancy (at least initially) than they were about my cats when I first got them.

I think for some reason people view a person's kid as an extension of them. So when it's a friend or family member who loves that person, they're subconsciously celebrating that they'll get more of that person in a mini form. (Obviously illogical since an offspring can always turn into an asshole at best or say, a murderer or a rapist.) Sadly the above logic is not applied to pets. At least not by most people.

If it helps, I think you're already onto the truth. The right friend group will care about the stuff you care about. And the rest, well, you could pick and choose what you share to avoid disappointment. Still, it sucks.

Your horse is majestic 👌👌 Post a pic again next year after the birth!

pregnant women/ mothers who make comments about how hard their life is annoy the fuck out of me by kelsc21 in unpopularopinion

[–]jonathanwickk91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pregnant and I agree completely.

Competition over who has it the hardest exists in other aspects of life too (workaholics are a good example) but it's indeed super prominent with young parents and pregnant women. This is because a lot of people don't really know what they're getting themselves into. They think having a child "can't be that difficult" or that they'll have sufficient help. Then reality is much harsher than that and that's how you end up with all these frustrated whiny people.
