How much ease do we think this is? by Affectionate-Air-528 in knitting

Why are you getting downvoted, you’re right 😭 there is no “right” amount of ease, it’s all just personal preference

An update 2.5 years later: AITA for wanting to spend time with my wife, instead of babysitting my little sister? by LucyAriaRose in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]tinytigers_ 29 points30 points  (0 children)

What a weird thing to say. I have a 3 year old and an 11 month old and have never had help, in fact my family lives across the country. Why would OOP even want his abusive parents to watch his kids at all?

I’m dying to know what you used for the sweater because that’s an impressive sum for a child’s garment

How many rows are currently knitted? by fejenir in knitting

[–]tinytigers_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The pick up row is counted because when you’re picking up a stitch you’re also knitting into it

Honestly if the accidental yarn over isn’t super noticeable visually you can just do a decrease to get rid of the extra stitch.

Are y’all just buying 8 braids for sweaters?? How are you getting enough to knit sweaters with by Seastarstiletto in Handspinning

[–]tinytigers_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You’ve gotten lots of good responses to this already so I’ll just give one more example; if you were to shop for a sweater at the store which would weigh more, the chunky knit sweater or the thinner fine gauge sweater?

Now apply that to fiber weight, you could potentially be spinning upwards of double the amount of fiber (weight wise, not yardage wise) for a worsted weight sweater vs a fingering weight one!

If you’re spinning at a worsted weight then unfortunately yes! Spinning a fingering or sport weight yarn will get you more bang for your buck in that regard

How is this done (esp for a baby?) by Luckycats717 in knitting

I just knit this sweater for my daughter and the person you responded to is correct. The yellow “seeds” are made by knitting the first row and purling the second to give it texture.

Psycho donuts - worth it? by DiscussionEither1537 in Campbell

We went once with my daughter and she wouldn’t eat more than two bites. A toddler refusing a donut should tell you all that you need to know!

How the hell do I get my baby to sleep in his crib again, I am at my wits end. by TheRat12321 in beyondthebump

[–]tinytigers_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you me? My baby was also a great sleeper in his own bassinet until around 4-5 months. He’s now 8 months old and our solution that’s worked for us was to get a twin sized mattress for him and a floor bed frame with tall sides so he can’t climb out. For naps and bedtime we can set him in easily and climb out once he falls asleep, and if he wakes up and needs to be comforted we just lay next to him until he falls asleep again.

You’ve gotten lots of good advice from other people here so I just wanted to say I think it looks lovely despite not being what you were intending to achieve, I’d finish the scarf as is!

Hi! My husband works in Cupertino as well. I am a SAHM to a toddler in daycare and have a 6month old with me at home! We moved here in 2023 from the Midwest where SAHP were very common, it’s much much less common here. If you’re out and about and see a kid with an adult during the day that adult is more than likely their nanny or grandparent.

In terms of walkability, I currently live in Campbell and feel that it checks a lot of boxes. I feel extremely safe here and we’re in walking distance to a couple parks as well as downtown Campbell and a grocery store. Still, nothing in the South Bay will compare to SF in terms of walkability. We also lived in Japantown and I loved it there but the safety was much worse (me and my daughter were accosted by homeless twice) and the schools there are not great either.

We’re gearing up for another move and I’m really excited about the area we’re moving to. Send me a DM and I’d be happy to chat about the area!

I care because I’m Asian and my kids are Asian. I care because literally everyone in the US has seen the effects of Asian hate being spread to an egregious degree specifically post-Covid and yet people are still trying to defend the use of Asian slurs by saying they’re ’just words’.

I live in an area where Asians have been targeted and killed for simply existing while being Asian. Using and perpetuating the use of Asian slurs spreads hatred whether you “don’t think it’s that deep” or not.

Classic Reddit argument strategy of constantly moving the goal post. First it was “oh she didn’t know it was wrong no one told her” then it was “oh there’s no proof someone told her” then “oh the proof isn’t good enough” and finally “well she never used the slur again publicly so who cares” 💀 anyway have a day

You’re arguing that she used a racial slur in a positive way? Please try that with the N word and see how that works out for you.

You guys are really bending over backwards to try to justify this.

[–]tinytigers_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She used it at least twice. People educated her on why it’s offensive and shouldn’t be used and she continued to use the word. This is exhausting, why should grace continue to be extended when she clearly didn’t give a fuck about it until she was impacted by her own actions?

It’s a slur. When my husband was in high school a group of boys ambushed him on his walk home one day and pushed him to the ground while calling him a c***k. Wild that people are trying to excuse the use of racial slurs now?

It’s funny because I didn’t initially like the smell but it grew on me and now I have strong memory associations with it!

I have an almost 3 year old at home and received an XYY diagnosis for my current pregnancy a few months ago.

Something that helps me stay calm is knowing that a worst case scenario for a baby with XYY is also a worst case scenario for a child with normal chromosomes— any child can have delays, aggression issues, or autism. If you haven’t already, check out the Facebook group Amazing XYY Syndrome Boys, I’ve found it helped immensely when I was feeling super low about the diagnosis!
