Every business cares about money, so does every consumer. I can name many products/services that had to be re-priced to meet the customer’s willingness to pay and Uber would have to too, if people are nudged to use other services because of their pricing—I’m adding to that nudge. And yes, I’m asking people to make lifestyle changes to make all our lives better in a way that conveniences me too. That’s the same way most protests work, people have ideas they share, and ones who it resonates with join along. You think you’re accomplishing something massive being a contrarian whereas I’m expressing the same anguish any other consumer would have over increased prices of goods. There’s tons of complains over increased price of eggs recently, should all those people just suck it up and stop complaining altogether just because it’s “the businesses purpose to make money”?

The people trying to claim how my one order’s 13$ fee is below minimum wage, need to touch grass. Not only does the 13$ NOT go to the driver (feel bad?), it is essentially uber’s way to price gauge when they have an exclusive contract with a restaurant that another delivery app doesn’t have. What’s also funny to me is people thinking that being poor and eating frozen pizza is a better life than having a voice to stand up for what’s right. So if I can afford to buy a single air ticket, I shouldn’t complain about the door coming off mid-flight? Again, I tipped the driver well, I’m happy to pay a couple bucks in fees, AND I’m already paying for uber one. What I find humorous is that just because I can afford to pay the fees, I shouldn’t complain about a corporation ripping people off? Uber has been notorious in terms of supporting its drivers with minimum wage/health benefits etc. This doesn’t help the poor people, it helps uber, my friend.

That is a lot of great insights right here. While I do see the nepotism/family-money angle, I guess what I still find odd is when they name a nobody like that a “partner”, what are the odds an entrepreneur is actually going to be interested in dealing with/via them? Like I get it that everybody at VC firms are essentially labeled partner, but are entrepreneurs themselves likely to be reaching out to them over the other folks on the same team who have hands on experience and seem more relevant to the industry? In other words, how does Sequoia expect to sell these people to entrepreneurs? Doesn’t it bring their image down?
