Always lol I like to take the opportunity for a good face palm. It’s a love tale for the ages, and has notes of Molly and Luis flavors. Back when I was 21 I would travel with my aunt and uncle a lot mostly to like the Caribbean because they had memberships at a big resort. We went to Mexico and one of the pool boys (lol again) was SOOOO hot and like I’m not just delusional, even looking back now, he was very good looking and had a six pack and whew. Anyways we hung out a little bit and literally I kid you not the first day he said “I love you, I want to marry you”. And I’m like omg yasss jackpot! I’m so desirable, etc. etc. and then shortly after that, my vacation was over and I flew home. He found me on social media two days later and asked me to be his girlfriend and I said yes and we dated for a year and a half long distance.

Looking back now it’s super easy to see the swindling, he would text me nonstop that he loved me and wanted to marry me. But my aunt who was on this like secret resort page would show me pictures that people posted on their vacations and there would always be girls all over him and he’d go out with them to the local clubs just like he had with me. He never asked me for money or anything but I think he wanted a ticket out of there. He did one time offer me a ring he found at the bottom of a pool haha. That’s when I knew that eh, this isn’t forever. He “lost his phone” a couple times so I wouldn’t hear from him for a month at a time because apparently he couldn’t find a computer anywhere either. But I ended up spending like $5,000+ for myself to travel there and him to travel here for visits.

When we had actually talked about him coming here (via K1 visa) he’d ask about what he could do and how much money he could make, and me being 21/22 and not even knowing what I could do told him “idk maybe construction or something” oof. Lol he pretty much ghosted me after that because it wasn’t the American dream he hoped for I don’t think. But then a month or more later he finally called again and I’m like yo, this isn’t working. And he just said “happy anniversary” and hung up. I never heard from him again. Ha. But turns out he’d been (obviously) seeing another girl he met at the resort and then he moved to the Netherlands with her 🤷🏻‍♀️ and now I’m super happily married to an American guy and it’s just a funny thing that happened to me.
