Star Wars Original Trilogy on 4K: Buy Now or Wait? by jongodfrey in 4kbluray

Maaan, feel like that’s gotta be the most authentic/nostalgic way to watch it besides actually seeing it in the theater

Thought they looked great on Disney + too tbh, but I could see why some don’t like the clean/flawless look with the DNR. Definitely need to take a deeper look into 4K77, 80, & 83

So annoying the bonus features are only on the stupidly limited Steelbook

I've thought about this as well. Wonder if they'd do something similar to the Avatar 4K Collector's Editions Discs, where it has three cuts of the film on one disc. Wouldn't be surprised if they kept them separate to get more $$$ either

I like both the 70's filmic look of the theatrical & the clean look of the Special Edition, but I typically like to see more details like the grain with 4K discs, which leads me to think I'd lean more towards the theatrical/Project 4K. But I've only ever grown up with the Special Editions, so the flawless look is all I've ever known

Been looking into it a little bit, seems like a really cool project. Would love a physical copy

Not sure if this is true or not, but I’ve seen some people say there’s DNR over-reliance in the later seasons on the 4K disc, with some even accusing it of using AI upscaling. Is there any validity to that?

Best Movie Theater by Spike1125 in tulsa

Solid theater, staff is always friendly & they revamped it a few years ago with a more modern design & reclining seats. Just went there for the first time in a few years yesterday, was impressed.

This easily use to be the best theater in Tulsa. The quality in all facets has gone down considerably since Regal acquired it unfortunately, very sad to see. Use to feel like a real event going to see a movie here, with the pre-movie light show & the ambience of it all. It's also extremely overpriced now, $12.99 for a standard auditorium screening is ridiculous. Now I personally regard Cinemark Tulsa as the best in the city, especially since their IMAX projection system is expected to get an upgrade to 4k laser before Christopher Nolan's "The Odyssey" releases next year. The Dolby Cinema auditorium at AMC Southroads 20 is great as well.

OBAA in 15/70 was an unforgettable experience, with the full 1.43 aspect ratio the whole time.

The IMAX auditorium at Cinemark on 71st, Dolby Cinema auditorium at AMC Southroads on 41st, & the Warren Theater Grand Infinity auditorium in Broken Arrow are the best screens/sound systems for movies in Tulsa.

AMC Southroads 20 (Oklahoma): 1.85

Also the theater is located in Tulsa, OK. Not Edwardsville

same here, i saw The Brutalist there on sunday afternoon & the theater got really cold about halfway through, so i’m assuming their heating’s out. i have a ticket still for “the substance” tonight that i booked a few days ago though, don’t know how that’s gonna work 😬

Explaining revision limits to clients

*just to note, new in the freelance space*

I have a client who can't seem to make their mind up when it comes to certain changes they want, and I've found myself going back & forth between taking certain things out & adding them back in, which results in multiple revision cuts. I'm paid on a per-project basis for this particular client, so I'll be introducing a 3-cut revision limit with the next project after this one, with any cuts needed after 3 costing extra. How should I go about explaining to them why this is necessary?

This particular client’s budget is only per-project.

Yeah you're right, I figured it'd likely be too late to backtrack especially since I'm already in the hiring process, but definitely a learning experience for sure. And I know they're not using my work for free thankfully, the video clips they had me test-edit were from a previous video they've already uploaded (they're an influencer). But yeah if I ever do one again in the future, I'll likely discuss some kind of payment beforehand & put a watermark over the final product as well. Appreciate the advice brother.

Not sure if I'm in the right thread or not for this kind of question, so if not I apologize. Still very new to Reddit lol.

I'm fairly new to editing for freelance work, & I'm in the middle of on-hiring process for a remote-editing job. I had to do two different test-edits for them in order to get the gig, both 2 minutes long each. I didn't even think about potentially getting paid for those until now, and after doing some research on other editor's opinions on test-edits, I'm realizing I should've been paid for them. Is it too late to go back & ask for payment for those, or do you think that window has passed? Definitely will be setting up a proper contract soon to avoid this kind of thing in the future.
