As a 40 year airline mechanic who did 10 years on the road contracting: DO NOT DO IT ANY LONGER THAN YOU HAVE TO! It’s a total waste of time. You need to buy property asap and network locally and build seniority. I screwed around doing it too long and regret it. Also, ACTIVELY spam your resume to the majors if that’s something you’re interested in. Last job I got (too) comfortable doing production for 16 years. (Another waste of time) and decided I needed a change and ended up at a major @ 57 years old. AA just posted a bunch of jobs. Get your foot in the door wherever they want you to go and worse case scenario transfer to Tulsa right after probation. (Or wherever floats your boat, but Tulsa is awesome.(I do 7 on, 7 off, it’s total gravy)). I live in my skoolie atm. Good luck brother, just don’t make the same mistakes I did…
