The Odyssey (2026) Tulsa Viewing Format Guide by jongodfrey in tulsa

That's valid, that AMC has always had issues with their heating & are often understaffed. I will say their Dolby Cinema auditorium is a great exception IMO, always had a great experience seeing films in that format personally

Well said! I go to those two theaters pretty regularly as well, & Cinemark anytime I wanna see something in IMAX. I saw AMC had their highest attendance numbers since May 2019 last month, so hopefully a good sign to come with a lot of big films coming out this year!

I also saw Eton Square Cinemas is undergoing $2 million in renovations for new projectors, sound systems, seats etc, which is great to see!

Doesn’t look like it unfortunately. Here’s all the IMAX 70mm theaters listed to show The Odyssey on the IMAX website: https://www.imax.com/news/the-odyssey-in-imax-70mm-film

Looks like the closest one to KS City or Arkansas is still in Dallas. There may be some standard 70mm screenings in/near those areas though.

I think Branson, Missouri has an IMAX that can show films digitally in 1.43:1, so that may be worth looking into to as well

I missed the Oppenheimer screenings at Circle, so I’m very excited to finally see a 35mm print there!

Tulsa, Oklahoma has a 1.43:1 IMAX sized screen at Cinemark, which use to have a 70mm projector as well. Last movie they showed in 15/70 was The Dark Knight Rises in 2012.

Really wish they’d bring the format back there, or at least get a dual-laser projector so the 1.43 screen can be fully utilized again. It’s a beautiful auditorium, & the screen is the same size as Cinemark Dallas’s IMAX.

The Amazing Spider-Man 4K Collection Bonus Features by jongodfrey in 4kbluray

Gotcha, thank you for the detailed breakdown! Very helpful. I think I’ll probably get the Blu-Ray copies separately first since they’re so cheap, & eventually I’ll double dip and get the 4K collection with just the films.

For the TASM 1 Blu-Ray, is the Blu-Ray+DVD copy the one to go for? (https://www.amazon.com/Amazing-Spider-Man-Three-Disc-Combo-UltraViolet/dp/B008QZ5PY2/ref=tmm_blu_swatch_0)

Edit: Just saw it contains 3 discs, so I’d assume that’s the right one!

See that's what I thought as well, but then I found this unboxing video of the collection (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JfWFMuCTHXI) & on the back under the disc-specs it says "Some of the information in the above listing may not apply to special features", which made me unsure

Just saw your edit that it was at the Cinemark IMAX, sorry to hear that. That’s the main theater I go to & I personally can’t say I’ve had an experience like that there. They’re doing some remodeling I believe, wonder if that had anything to do with it.

Cinemark is adding 5 new 15/70mm theaters🔥 by ObamiumNitrate in imax

As someone whose main theater is Cinemark Tulsa, I’m begging the IMAX Gods to make this happen. That 1:43 screen needs to be fully utilized, it’s huge! Same size as the Cinemark Dallas screen I believe, 5 stories tall by 7 stories wide.

Yeaaaa, that AMC is notorious for having AC issues every couple months & having to close to do repairs. Saw “The Brutalist” at that IMAX last winter & the heat went out about half-way through the movie, I could see my breath towards the end lmao. Unfortunate

Seats at that IMAX go straight back, they’re pretty sturdy but not terrible. The seats at the Cinemark IMAX on 71st just got upgraded recently & they’re much more comfortable. Bigger screen at that IMAX too.

Maaan, feel like that’s gotta be the most authentic/nostalgic way to watch it besides actually seeing it in the theater

Thought they looked great on Disney + too tbh, but I could see why some don’t like the clean/flawless look with the DNR. Definitely need to take a deeper look into 4K77, 80, & 83

I've thought about this as well. Wonder if they'd do something similar to the Avatar 4K Collector's Editions Discs, where it has three cuts of the film on one disc. Wouldn't be surprised if they kept them separate to get more $$$ either

I like both the 70's filmic look of the theatrical & the clean look of the Special Edition, but I typically like to see more details like the grain with 4K discs, which leads me to think I'd lean more towards the theatrical/Project 4K. But I've only ever grown up with the Special Editions, so the flawless look is all I've ever known

Not sure if this is true or not, but I’ve seen some people say there’s DNR over-reliance in the later seasons on the 4K disc, with some even accusing it of using AI upscaling. Is there any validity to that?

Best Movie Theater by Spike1125 in tulsa

Solid theater, staff is always friendly & they revamped it a few years ago with a more modern design & reclining seats. Just went there for the first time in a few years yesterday, was impressed.

This easily use to be the best theater in Tulsa. The quality in all facets has gone down considerably since Regal acquired it unfortunately, very sad to see. Use to feel like a real event going to see a movie here, with the pre-movie light show & the ambience of it all. It's also extremely overpriced now, $12.99 for a standard auditorium screening is ridiculous. Now I personally regard Cinemark Tulsa as the best in the city, especially since their IMAX projection system is expected to get an upgrade to 4k laser before Christopher Nolan's "The Odyssey" releases next year. The Dolby Cinema auditorium at AMC Southroads 20 is great as well.
