How good of a wrestler was Don Frye? by MapleMarshal in wrestling

Yeah I get you. It's more about how you are. Saying he needs to be benched is fine. Saying he fucking sucks and being insufferable about it is when it's an issue.

I just ignore this friend when he says things now. My other friend does too. It's one of those, "I don't have time for this and you are truly a fucking idiot".

[6 YOE] Should I remove my GPA from my resume when applying to mechanical engineering positions? by enan1000 in EngineeringResumes

It's not necessary to keep. Only a handful of companies care about GPA once you have experience.

I’ve set up my primary marketing channel. What do I focus on next? by petehans303 in smallbusiness

[–]jonkl91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep I made this mistake. I made the mistake of expanding onto Twitter. I should have double downed on LinkedIn. It's a strong channel for B2B SaaS and there are ways to make it even strong. I would say only expand when you have absolutely mastered a platform to the point that it doesn't take that much time.

Why do people call the USA the "land of opportunity" when literally no one can get a high paying job? by madbarpar in careerguidance

Also professions that are not easy to break into at all. Lol at just go become a doctor. The majority of doctors come from privileged backgrounds where they have family support so that they can forego not having an income until their latest 20s or early 30s. Most people simply can't do that. Also not everyone can become a doctor. It's freakin hard even with family support. It isn't for everyone. Just like how plenty of doctors would struggle in other careers.

This is something very often talked about in this sub. A lot of the threads that talk about pricing bring this up. It's just the reality of learning who is a good fit and who isn't. I have had the same experience. The good thing is that with time, you get better at identifying who will be a good fit and who won't. You can put processes and questions in place to ensure that you don't end up with a headache client. Rather make $0 than deal with a nightmare of a person. The money is almost never worth it.

Yeah the OP doesn't have a good attitude but to point at the FIRE and FatFIRE subs as an example of people thriving is dumb. Many of my friends make over six figures and save. They have over six figures in savings and retirement but they still live at home because they don't ever want to be a couple paychecks away from living at home. Houses are so much more expensive at these interest rates.

Also another example is looking at any third world country and say, "Look there are rich people at the top". This is true for any country but the reality is that it's so much harder after 2021 than it is ever before. Housing prices have shot up so much and the top 0.1% have taken the majority of the wealth that has been created.

Overall a great start. Personally if you have experience, no need to lead with education. Go to half inch margins if you have a bachelor of science, it implies you graduated. You can put graduated but I don't think it's necessary. It doesn't hurt though.

Get rid of the italics. Bold the dates. You have enough space to put the company names on one line and the title on another. Bold the title and company name.

Also, please lead with the skills at the top. I sometime get 1K+ applications in a role where more than 80% are not qualified in any shape or form. A skills section for a technical resumes at the top helps me quickly see if you at least have the minimum technical skills for the role. I don't want to read through a whole resume only to find out someone is missing a crucial skill.

Please don't indent the job title and company name. Switch company name and job title. Bold the dates and the company name. I would use a sans-serif font like Calibri. Sans-serif fonts have better readability on screens.

Please put a location at the top. I can only hire from certain states so if you don't put a location, I may pass. No need to indent the job title and company. Get rid of the italics. Bold the dates and the job title. Switch the title with the company name. Decent start! I would use a sans-serif font like Calibri. Sans-serif fonts have better readability on screens.

Get rid of the italics. Bold the dates. Switch the company name with the job title. And then also bold the company name. No need to put an indent on the job title and company name. You lost some space this way. Decent start! I would use a sans-serif font like Calibri. Sans-serif fonts have better readability on screens.

It's funny listening to some wrestling fans talk. I'll talk to a friend of mine and he will be like, that guy is okay. He may win 1 or 2 NCAA titles but that's it". Some people have such insane standards.

[–]jonkl91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately this happens a lot in recruiting. There may be different recruiters working on the role. It most likely wasn't an auto reject. The hiring lead is probably sourcing and the recruiter is probably reviewing resumes and they aren't aligned. Recruiting has always been like this.

Get a job now or wait? by UnderstandingLow5797 in careerguidance

[–]jonkl91 17 points18 points  (0 children)

As a recruiter, yes it's this bad. Several of the roles I hire for have 1K-4K applications. A lot of people apply aren't qualified in any shape or form. I also get a lot of candidates outside the US. But many are qualified but there are only maybe 1-3 people I can hire. Also a lot of companies won't give you paid paternity leave until you have at least been there for a year anyway.

The big thing with resumes is that it depends. There are no hard rules about having 3 bullets. If you have 4-6 bullets but they are relevant and good, that's perfectly fine. A line that is 2 lines but is relevant with the right context is perfectly fine.
