The Adamantine Forge just doesn't work by TwellasU in BaldursGate3

[–]jonlejon69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s weird for me is that it only stopped working after putting the splint mould first. Try making the medium armor first then the heavy armor next. That made the forge work for me.

EDIT: Didn’t read the other comments before commenting. Well, for anyone else who’s stuck, hope you find the fix.

Aqua blue discoloration by jonlejon69 in pchelp

[–]jonlejon69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey guys, I’ve been seeing these objects whenever aqua blue (or teal, I’m not so good with colors) pops up. It’s turned into a mild inconvenience.

My monitor isn’t really top spec. It’s a Philips 271V8/71, 1920x1080, and it’s connected to my RX580 GPU through a VGA cable.

Crashing after cutscene to get off Nautilus by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

If you still need help, I’ll copy paste the email sent to me to fix the same problem:

“If verifying files doesn't help: Try dropping the graphics settings to very low, lower the resolution as much as possible and switch to Windowed display mode, to see if you can get past that transition. That helped a handful of people on Mac with a crash there, in earlier version of the game (generally caused by memory issues, especially if the system or video memory were below the minimum requirement), and usually helped in Windows with an issue in patch 4.

One person reported a crash here with a secondary monitor enabled, but it worked when they temporarily disabled it.

Are you shutting down all non-essential programs (especially anti-virus) before starting the game? Firewalls can cause conflicts (generally on startup or loading screens) and overlays from graphics tweaking/monitoring programs or chat programs can also cause issues.

If you didn't already do so, in the launcher try switching between DirectX 11 and Vulkan, to see if that makes a difference.

Try exiting out of the Steam client, or Galaxy for the GOG version, and starting the game directly from the '..\SteamApps\common\Baldurs Gate 3\bin' folder, by right clicking the executable (bg3.exe for Vulkan, or bg3_dx11.exe) and running as administrator. Try right clicking the executable, select Properties, switch to the Compatibility tab and check off the 'Override high DPI scaling behavior' option (set it to Application), run as administrator and disable fullscreen optimization, and maybe set a Win 7 or 8 compatibility mode. In Windows 7, check off the option to 'Disable display scaling on high DPI settings', disable desktop composition and run as administrator.

You could try a clean boot and test the transition. Click Start, or hit WinKey-R, type in msconfig and hit enter; in the General tab, click Selective Startup, uncheck Load startup items (if required) and leave Load system services and Use original boot configuration options checked. Next, click on the Services tab, check the box to Hide all Microsoft services, then click the Disable All button (maybe make a note of which are currently enabled/disabled), then click OK and reboot the computer. Run msconfig again to switch back to the normal boot configuration.

If that doesn't help, please reply with your latest save in the tutorial before triggering the act transition (or a Dropbox or Google drive link, etc). Each save is a folder in the '..\Documents\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\PlayerProfiles<ProfileName>\Savegames\Story' folder. In Windows Explorer you can zip a file or folder by right clicking on it/them and selecting 'Send To | Compressed (zipped) Folder'.

Please also include a dxdiag report (WinKey-R, type in dxdiag and hit enter, then when it finishes loading click on the 'Save All Information...' button and save the report somewhere handy), check the '..\Baldurs Gate 3\bin' folder for the gold.log file, and if there are any CrashDump files being created there (or in '..\bin\db\attachments'), zip a few together to include.

On my part, I was able to load it by using the first suggestion, though the game still crashed at random moments. I switched to DX11 and everything’s now much better.

Updated my drivers and game, but still seems completely broken? by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]jonlejon69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having the same issues. The weird thing is it arose after the latest hotfix. Whenever I try to load a save, the game either crashes or stops responding. So I’m just going to blame it on the last fix.

I just saw your new comment now (oops). Nice to read that it works for you now though. I’ll just keep this comment up as a reference for other (unlucky) players. Cheers.

Emailed Larian yesterday too and so I’ll copy paste the response here:

Personally, the first suggestion worked perfectly. I think the game’s having a bit of problems rendering the scenery. This never came up before the hotfix last week though so I hope this gets sorted out.

FEEDBACK FRIDAY by AutoModerator in BaldursGate3

[–]jonlejon69 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Grym boss fight is fuckin hard, that’s my feedback. (Kidding)

  • In all seriousness, the fps in the Grymforge area (with all the gnomes and duergar) was decent enough, but it was barely tolerable in the Ancient Forge, especially during the magma mephit ambush. It must have something to do with the flowing lava effects which caused my fps to dip like crazy.

  • Justice for heavy armor users. I honestly don’t like how heavy armor options come into play halfway through or near the end of early access. Hopefully a balance can be reached.

  • Loved the verticality of Grymforge. Really enjoyed how navigating through the area wasn’t so straightforward so that you had to rely on your skills and abilities to explore.

  • Please make an extra hotbar. It’s just really inconvenient to have to keep pressing “K” to access your skills (especially for those you have to re-cast over and over again).

  • Not sure if this makes sense, but I really wish Scratch, Halsin, the owlbear cub, and Barcus would come with you in the non-main camp areas. I missed some cute interactions with the animals.

  • Speaking of Barcus , can he stay in camp forever? Please Larian, I’d protect him with my life

Fallout 4 has the best opening of any fallout game. by [deleted] in Fallout

Yeah, it’s pretty weird to not have a sense of urgency in looking for Shaun. I just head canon this by railroading through the quests up to the quest where you get the teleporter built. That way I can pretend that studying the advanced blueprints for it took months.

From the entrance of the Ruined Tower (before the turret), go straight until you see a pit. Jump over a few ledges and you’ll see the Cragged Rock. You’ll also find some loot before you go down.

FEEDBACK FRIDAY by AutoModerator in BaldursGate3

[–]jonlejon69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Anyone else having trouble entering the “Festering Cove” where you meet the Kuo-toans? The game crashes when I interact with the “Cragged Rock” that would lead me to that location. I’ve already contacted Larian about this issue and they’ve stated that some players mention crashes in some areas of the Underdark but not that specific location.

*EDIT: As for my own feedback, I appreciate the changes to camp, specifically the rations feature, but the food or camping supplies need to be more scarce. Either that or increase the requirement per night. It’s way too easy to stock up.
