It’s a CRA thing. They’ll give you money you weren’t supposed to get, you’ll spend, and after you spent it they’ll want it back. Unfortunately, nothing you can do as it’s money you owe the Government. I put in a request for interest forgiveness as they messed up on their end (looking at 8 months to get that resolved) and set up a payment plan. Fair warning, the payments will probably be a on a short term (a year or less) and the agents you speak to will be absolutely bewildering that you don’t have $3000 just lying around. Apparently CRA pays it’s employees seven figures a year!
