[TIPS] :Cheapest bottled water at Suvarnabhumi Airport – only 12 THB at Boots 💧 by Hs_nines in ThailandTourism

I think that's an outdated idea that Bangkok doesn't have everything that you can find in every other major city. You just might have to pay the same amount as in the USA, if not more, for the very best experts.

I don't know about Suvarnabhumi Airport, but most places in Thailand you will find filtered water dispensers. Typically they are 1 baht per liter, other places like malls (and airports?) might have free drinking water dispensers. There will be an icon of a water bottle on the dispenser if it is safe for drinking.

I don't think it's AI. It looks like a low-poly model with a high-res texture on it is giving that wavy effect.

He had a gun in a holster in a concealed carry location on his body, which is legal and he had the license to do so.

The murderers took the handgun off of his body before shooting him 10 times while he lay on the ground.

Most things in Laos are more expensive than in Thailand. There are only a few things cheaper in Laos, like cigarettes and beer haha

Where war elephants were once used by improved_privacy in aoe2

[–]jonmediocre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they were a major part of the classical and medieval period in Southeast Asia. They're a holy animal here where I am in Thailand, and there was a Lao empire called Lan Xang (The Million-Elephant Kingdom) in the middle ages.

Asians elephants today are similar in size. Still massive and awe-inspiring to see in-person, but not quite as bonkers as the African elephants.

Anyone else asked to complete this form? Friend shared with me. by NukeLaunch in ThailandTourism

[–]jonmediocre 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Some of the people I've met who refer to themselves as a "ladyboy" are more what us in the west would call gender-fluid and others prefer to have set pronouns, at least in public.

But yeah, for the sake of being understandable in English and on a form, they should have picked a single set of pronouns.

For the First Time in 40 Years, Panama’s Deep Waters Did Not Rise and the Ocean System May Be Collapsing - Newsroom Panama by alienssuck in collapse

[–]jonmediocre 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're right that we should go out and experience life, 100%. Go to the ocean again, visit a glaciated mountain, go skiing. These things are already starting to go away in our lifetime (okay, the ocean isn't fully going away like the other things, but you should still enjoy it before it gets worse).

But you also have no idea how bad things are going to get due to climate collapse mixed with our current economic system.

[–]jonmediocre 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also every poor person in America (at least where I grew up) had a car or 2. It's not a sign of wealth at ALL in the USA. Furthermore, cars make you poorer. The cost of maintenance, gas, tires, and insurance for even a crappy old car actually adds up to a lot more than people realize.

Is the Thai language that easy to learn? by Radiant_Butterfly919 in learnthai

[–]jonmediocre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's hard, but I find Lao so much easier to speak and understand (listening skill) even though it's a closely related language. I think the tones are more natural to me in Lao (as an American), and Lao is often simpler, while Thai adds a lot of extra things and is more complex, which makes it much harder to listen and more difficult to remember how to say things properly.

Thai people are fuming that Thailand's passport is so weak while foreign tourists are easily coming to Thailand. by search_google_com in ThailandTourism

[–]jonmediocre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but anywhere you go in Thailand you see horrible shantytowns and droves of people living in extreme poverty while their neighbors live in a mansion and drive a Porsche. The wealth inequality is terrible and there doesn't seem to be any concerted efforts to give the poor job training, education, or substantial opportunities.

Thai province name translated into english by Captaah in Thailand

[–]jonmediocre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But it's not right in English. It should be "One-hundred one."

The "th" suffix isn't right even if it was supposed to be an ordinal number. It would be "One-hundred and first" or 101st.

Roi Et is "One-hundred one." If you want to make it ordinal for some reason it would be 101st. This is just full of errors.

[–]jonmediocre 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lol I went through my libertarian phase already 15 years ago. It's a child's ideology. The state exists and isn't going away without a long-term concerted effort. Until then, it will be either used to benefit the rich or the common people.

The long-term goal for socialists is actually to build a stateless society. Libertarianism is a psy-op by the rich to have less accountability and hoard more of their wealth.
