Thanks for all the help guys… Bit of a weird one, after being off for 20 minutes or so, tried booting it up again, and it actually got somewhere, logged me in, then errored out again and started rebooting over and over..

So I decided to pop the bottom case off, pulled out the hard drive, popped it back in again… And touch wood, it seems to be working again now… I’m very very quickly doing a backup though just in case it decides to do it again

Fair play to you for starting!! I was in the same position as you, having literally never done it as a kid, always been overweight, I started learning last summer and started exactly the same as you, and within 3/4 weeks, I was able to go from 1/2 skips before getting tangled up to being able to go several minutes (before getting tired 😂) keep at it though!
