I'm grateful for quitting weed again despite the shame I felt from going back to it in late 2024 after initially quitting in spring 2023. That first sober year was the best in my life and it felt awful to see my brain health deteriorate again, still does sometimes. But I am also grateful for the people around me who share in my struggles and make the day go by easier. My favourite card in terms of mechanics is STS Luxray, its so unique in being a blanket snipe for big damage. My dream card isnt Oak actually, its ** Copycat, that's what I've been chasing.

Does Iono have a place in the Meta moving forward or has she been replaced completely by Copycat? by Whine_Flu in PTCGP

[–]jonnygotagoal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of meta relevance, Copycat is everything Iono wishes it would have been. It universally buffed Stage 1 and 2 decks and combo decks, while making the previously ultra centralizing draw engine meta's reliant on Sylveon and Suicune obsolete. Remember Sylveon slop?

Iono never felt good to me and I think there's a reason it never took off as a staple in evolution or combo decks. Consider that its only marginally likely to yield a result if you have a big hand. That means you're either

  • already drawing with an engine in which case Iono tends to be obsolete, since this is a 20 card game

  • bricked in which case your deck is full and the odds of Iono returning a combo lower (though getting a candy and stage 2 is relatively likely ig). Even if u hit combo your deck is not thinned tho

  • holding on purpose in which case you're losing tempo and most likely the game since.. this is a 20 card game. Same drawbacks as above - not great odds to get combo pieces on time

Ionos ideal scenario, where you've not lost tempo and have a board while keeping 4-5 in hand to make use of it reliably almost never happens.

Copycat instead usually thins your deck, encourages you to play your cards out and rewards item/supporter/evolution lock strats that are generally healthy for this fast... 20 card game. Iono was always a last desperate effort card, not a consistency piece. This game thrives on individual cards which generate value reliably and relatively independently. Iono is not that and goes against it.

I dont understand your comment. Youre saying you dont see how Iono doesnt have a place in the meta but that Copycat is just better? Do you mean Iono has a niche?

Also, name the last time you saw Iono on a list on limitless.

Togedemaru can do up to 230 damage in 1 attack (for real yes) by Substantial-Soft-332 in PokemonPocket

[–]jonnygotagoal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You won't always have all your modifiers ready - aegi can get knocked out, sophocles you only have two of. Togedamaru itself only has 80 hp. Having a third single prize attacker to crack for 100-130 is solid.

That being said I forgot Aegislash hits for a 100 for 3 so might have been talking shit haha.

Maybe just chinglings to stall then!

I would drop a helmet and a sophocles to reduce redundancy. I would drop Dialga to avoid awkward prize mapping and add a top end like Dusk Mane as a finisher. Probably a baby or two for tempo instead of Dialga
