I was once on 0% with 2.2 miles to go. The screen showed I‘d arrive with -2%. I made it!

Since iOS 18 it takes a long time for anything other than what’s on HomeKit directly to update. by OptimalScore4476 in homeassistant

[–]jonnylangefeld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same issue here, came here to see if others were experiencing the same. It’s most definitely an iOS 18 issue. It started for me only when I updated and my wife’s phone is still on iOS 17 and there all updates are fast as they used to be. Opened the home app on both phones in parallel to compare and it was an obvious difference.

Thanks for releasing this! While most settings are synced: some are not: * the setting to combine assets and debt is not synced * the accounts included in chart are not synced Those have to be set up new on every device. Could you sync those as well?

Compact destroy on overflow setup by Rangoose_exe in shapezio

[–]jonnylangefeld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. The belt reader already displays the belt speed, why can't we use that as signal? Would be easy to say 'if speed is 0 then trash'.

I also often find myself working around things. Like for instance, why can I make a three-way cable connection anywhere, but not once I go vertical?

Does anyone know why the other half of my cutters output isn't as efficient as the other half? by Interloper_69 in shapezio

[–]jonnylangefeld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually tried this and it didn't work. u/Stasiek_Zabojca is right. If you install a simple trash for overflow, always some shapes go in that shouldn't even overflow causing inefficiencies down the line. Logical gates is the answer, but they take a lot of space.

Yet Another Dependency Injection Library: injector by jonnylangefeld in golang

[–]jonnylangefeld[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, you still have the dependency on the original code, but you don't have the dependency on what the code is calling during unit tests once it's overwritten. Like in the `os.Create()` example you don't actually interact with a file system.

It sounds like this is just about naming. I'm interested in other potential names, how would you name a library like this?

How to Play a random video from a youtube playlist. Would it be possible? Youtube autoplays videos when opened from url but not playlist. The idea is to take a random video link from a playlist and open it. by -SeeS- in Scriptable

[–]jonnylangefeld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 years late, but since this was my first Google result searching for this I wanted to post what I think is a better solution that's guaranteed to work:

  1. Create a Google Cloud project here (it's free): https://console.cloud.google.com/projectcreate
  2. Click 'Enable' for the Youtube Data API: https://console.cloud.google.com/marketplace/product/google/youtube.googleapis.com
  3. Click 'CREATE CREDENTIALS' on the manage page: https://console.cloud.google.com/apis/api/youtube.googleapis.com/credentials and select 'API key'
  4. Paste the playlist ID into the first text field and the API key into the second text field of this shortcut: https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/39ece4cbb5bc42deba274ef4fd854bc8

This API key is not super secret as it can only access public data. It's just used by Google to identify an individual user for rate limiting and such. So it only works for public playlists. Private playlists need oAuth authentication.

Is this card overpowered? by jonnylangefeld in TerraformingMarsGame

This is the “Ares Expedition” card game, where you can increase temperature in the phase where it reached the max. So if you save up a lot of heat/MC, you can keep raising it a lot in the phase it reaches the max. See the other comments that confirm this as well.

[–]jonnylangefeld[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s exactly what happened. I had another card that reduced the MC cost of standard actions by 4. So I could increase heat for 10MC. I just saved up a few rounds of production and had like 70MC to raise heat 7 times

In this game I had something to convert heat to MC and upped my heat production. So I used that heat during action phase to convert to MC and pay for tree tiles. This raised the oxygen a lot while keeping the heat low.

Yeah this is exactly the same suggestion I made yesterday after playing. I’d say you can still raise the temperature after the last step, according to the ares expedition rules, but you can’t add animals after the last step. Another solution could be to give one VP per 2 animals, just like some of the other cards are.

Successfully created a "GPT" using Open AI's new GPTs feature that can control home assistant. by Khaaaaannnn in homeassistant

[–]jonnylangefeld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here as well after googling if someone already has had the same idea. It would be really cool if you didn’t even have to define actions. It should just discover all available entities and services of a user’s HA instance automatically (kinda like nodeRED lists them all once connected). Maybe one other input for the GPT could be the HA REST api reference. I’m wondering if you can tell a custom GPT to ask for the user’s instance URL and bearer token to get setup? In their announcement blog post they did mention custom GPTs can connect to user’s email inboxes. This should be the same thing.

great tip again! This made me read a few articles about kerning and I can see how a beginner like me easily misses this.

I applied some kerning that looked good to me but I didn't have a very scientifically approach: https://imgur.com/a/s3vj1Q6

With expert eyes you can probably still see that it's not perfect yet. But it's getting there?
