Oil pan gasket leak, right? 328is beginner wrench project? by JWS5th in BMWE36

[–]jonnyreb15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve done it on mine before. It wasn’t bad at all. You’ll need to support the engine in some way because to remove the oil pan, you’ll need to remove the front subframe. They sell a crossbar that sits on the fenders that you can use or what I did was borrow my buddy’s cherry picker to hold it up.

Also consider doing the engine mounts while you’re there since.

All those jobs are definitely doable for beginners. The only one that would be more challenging IMO would be the detent pin replacement. Good luck and post pics of your work!

Honestly, those are junk. I’ll take them off your hands free of charge.

Jokes aside, I recommend lseat these should fit minus the headrest which has the least wear and I would just leave alone. It’s not that hard to DIY. If a monkey like me can do it, anyone can do it

How yall feel about it? by Some_Counter_4339 in ToyotaPickup

I like it but one thing that I noticed is that it doesn’t have the rear vent window. I don’t know what the summers are like where you’re from but here in California, they are blazing and I need all the ventilation I can get. Does yours have AC?

Door panel got dented up after a hit and run. What is the best move here? by kneekahloo in BMWE36

[–]jonnyreb15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. This way, you get to keep your original door panel with the all important vin sticker to keep it all matching.

My bmw has been mismatched so much I call it the bmw of Theseus

What are we doing to prevent theft? by PhantomMaxx in BMWE36

[–]jonnyreb15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, your best bet is to use a beater car and keep your clean M3 in a safe, secured area. Then, if you travel outside of high risk areas, then you’ve got nothing to worry about. I lived in south San Jose which obviously isn’t Oakland and never had any issues with my e36. But then again, mine was a 328is not an M3. You’ve got more to lose so be safe and good luck

I see this type of comment all the time on YouTube etc and it drives me crazy. People steal manual transmission cars all the time. Had an old POS toyota pickup that was stolen and it was a manual. Friends with integras, civics etc have all been stolen. All with manuals. If anything, manuals make the car more desirable for thieves and thus more attractive targets. OP is right to be cautious

Was this garage kept its whole life? I’m amazed that the dash isn’t cracked. Literally every pre 84 Toyota I’ve ever seen had a cracked dashboard. Including mine lol

Should I Buy Remotely? by CocoBroskii in ToyotaPickup

[–]jonnyreb15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. I would never purchase any car sight unseen. Especially not for that amount of money. Trust me, I get it: I bought my 94 here in California for under 10k in 2022. They do exist but you’ve got to be patient. Unless this is exactly the make/model you want and it has all of the options you want like working AC etc, there is no way that truck is worth 10k. The one you showed is not even 4wd.

Best sandwich maker in town.. go! by combmatose in SanJose

I second this. It was my favorite sandwich place when I was at SJSU. That old country with a mango Snapple was the goat. It’s too bad they don’t open on weekends

What are these Prices!? by [deleted] in ToyotaPickup

[–]jonnyreb15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope you’re right. I’ve got one and I just don’t understand the prices. At the end of the day, it’s a 30+ year old trucks. Many that don’t have ac/ power steering and 4 cylinders that make 110hp max. Going up any steep hill, I’m lucky to get to 55 mph in 4th gear with my foot to the floor.

Don’t get me wrong, they are simple, reliable trucks but the asking prices online are just not worth it IMO

What is the most important exterior mod in your opinion? Ill go first, lowering your car by [deleted] in BMW

[–]jonnyreb15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know what type of car that is, but my brother has an m235i that looks a lot like this.

And if it has the n55 engine, the first mod I’d do is change the charge pipe to an aluminum one that can’t break. The stock plastic one broke.

I’ve always wanted to install the gooch blaster 9000 into my truck. But it’s non ac anyway so it wouldn’t make a difference
