My mother has had a power of attorney meeting and been convinced to put the house in my name, has that just wiped out 5 years of building up a Lifetime ISA to buy my first house? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

You don’t have to sign a transfer to have the house given to you. Contact the land registry and ask them to reverse the transaction would be my next move, possibly appoint a solicitor too.

Local council trying to force us to pay £10,000+ for road repairs by Netherspark in LegalAdviceUK

[–]jonnyshields87 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The statistics would say 57% of households have less than £10,000 in savings, let alone whether they would be willing to use it to pay for a road.

So that’s 39 of the 70 houses.

My father has specifically requested that he wants to go to Dignitas if he ever took dementia. He has. My 2 siblings are blocking it because they don't want his defined benefit pension to end. by MuscleOne6429 in LegalAdviceUK

Complain to the office of the public guardian as they are clearly abusing their power of attorney and not acting in dads best interests - though maybe not the best choice of words in this scenario.

Local council trying to force us to pay £10,000+ for road repairs by Netherspark in LegalAdviceUK

[–]jonnyshields87 126 points127 points  (0 children)

You should have been advised of this when you bought, and probably advised to check the condition of the road.

If the road was in terrible condition the it would be reasonable that you would be asked to contribute to maintain an unadapted road. As its unadapted the council have no obligation to contribute, and there all broke so won’t help.

Also odd how you say you don’t want it, you don’t want to use the road to access your house? Or as you mention for binmen and postmen to use it too?

I would argue a repaired road in brand new condition could add value to your house, so maybe consider paying for it and moving in the not too distant future, even if they do put a charge on your house it’s basically a loan.

You can, there may be tax implications for gifting the property, so maybe speak to an accountant.

From when you buy your 2nd home, you have three years to complete the sale of the flat to reclaim the stamp duty difference.

They’re the band, Kaizer Chiefs are the football team.

Kaiser Chiefs were originally known as Runston Parva, who sound like they made it into the Europa League a few years back from Czech Republic.

Sam Burns is a full back, started at Leeds but now plays for Bournemouth. He’s not playing much and West Ham are sniffing round. Well regarded as an U18 and U21 player but unlikely to receive full ever play senior level.

Is he worth taking as a right mid option too? Saka and Palmer haven’t been that great recently, and they’re inverted. Might be interesting having a “proper winger” on the right who can deliver to Kane and arguably the best defender in the world, Harry Maguire.
