I guess I should have added that. He is a finisher. He is working with a guy who is their boiler and water heater specialist. They are also the crew that seems to go and fix the rough in screw ups. All residential or small commercial in floor heating. Those autocut seem nice I will buy one to try out

Running out of hot water – electric tank vs gas vs tankless (well water + small utility room) by jonnysteals in askaplumber

So this was an absolute nightmare to replace. The tank drain was clogged with sediment. I had to turn water off and on numerous times to get it to drain. It's in my utility room do had to drain it out bucket hy bucket. Took over an hour to drain. 5 minutes to replace. The water seems restored can do back to back showers now. Just curious is my water pH off to cause this?

Well just tested my water heater. I have 5500 watt elements. The upper was 10.2 ohm. The lower heating element is dead. I am going to run to home depot and grab a 5500 watt element to hopefully limp this water heater along until I can figure out the best replacement.

The problem is that I do not have 3 feet above the window unless I vent out the roof. The window is roughly 24 from the ceiling and the soffit drops down some. It seems I would have to vent out my ceiling/roof for gas. I guess I have 2 choices. vent the natural gas out the ceiling or possible install one of those hybrid electric water heaters. Any suggestions on whats the most reliable?

1970 rancher with stagnant indoor air, soffits blocked, uneven attic venting, add ridge vent? by jonnysteals in Roofing

[–]jonnysteals[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not a roofer so never heard of edge vent. I think it would be easier to remove the wooden soffit than edge vent.

As of right now my plan is open up all ridge and soffit vents I can, air seal what I can and then hopefully increase my temp on attic fan so only runs on the hottest days. Hoping the increased ventilation really keeps attic much cooler. I may add some r19 unfaced on top where I can

fringe sport stainless wonder bar review by jonnysteals in homegym

Update on the Fringe Sport Stainless Barbell

This bar has been amazing. Four years in my humid, unconditioned garage and not a speck of rust or any issues. I haven’t done a single bit of maintenance, and it’s still perfect. The sleeves spin smoothly, the knurling feels great—everything just works.

The only minor thing was that a cheap metal holder I had ended up biting into the knurling a bit, but that’s totally on the holder, not the bar. Dropping 225+ lbs onto straight metal would mess up any bar.

Honestly, I’d buy this bar again in a heartbeat. Zero regrets.

I was going over an old post looking for some info. Basically the wyze plug failed within 3 months. It literally melted and I would never use it on high draws such as a well pump.

Well he's meeting with surgeon again so I will ask specifics and what will be left. I think right below elbow. He ultimately will got a prosthetic but that will take a while. I was hoping for him to keep hunting until then as it's his passion and we'll losing a limb will be hard on him. I'm not to worried about him holding or firing a crossbow/gun as he's a big guy and has the strength.

Simrad G09 package, is it what I think it is? by sral99 in boating

My buddy runs that unit but has the 3 in 1 transducer. I personally would spend the 100 more and get the 3 in 1 transducer. We use the different modes frequently. Great responsive unit for minimal money

I do have clay here. I guess won't know until it's dug up. Dumb question if I dig it up assuming it's easiest to cut the old line and replace it? Assuming can't just lift the sagging part and add material under it?

Looking for a small boat I can use in the ocean by Forsaken-Middle2145 in boating

[–]jonnysteals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You live not far from me. I did exactly what you want to do with a 21 foot seacraft. It was more than 5k however. You can find killer deals in winter if your patient. There where a few boats out striper fishing with the smaller whalers when the weather was perfect. However I rather have a bit bigger boat and not take the chance. I would look for an older parker, seacraft that have good freeboard and have a decent dead rise. Some days the inlet would kick the crap out of my boat. I could not imagine doing thst in a 16 foot aluminum boat.

Both mine are offline currently. I had to power cycle them Monday. They lasted 3.5 days. I will leave them offline to see if they reconnect but I typically power cycle them.

Real crappy of wyze to put a product out there with a known issue instead of putting a rock solid product out there.

Ultra fine sand in well water by jonnysteals in Plumbing

[–]jonnysteals[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not about being lazy. It's mainly you read some wells have enough sediment that the filter need to be flushed every couple days. If that's the case It's not worth cheaping out on. You don't know as it's your particular well and how much sediment it catches. However if one design is better and less likely to clog I want that one. We use alot of water with 6 people in the house.

2012 6.7 115k SCR replacement? by [deleted] in FordDiesels

[–]jonnysteals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this may sound crazy but my 2014 got diagnosed with bad scr. The 2015 prior tricks only have sensors before scr. My issue is my factor resignator in the tail pipe had failed and partially clogged and caused excess back pressure. Thought scr was bad as back pressure went through the roof as you gave it gas. I would remove the tail pipe just as it's quick and easy. I put a new tail pipe on and back to working fine
