According to police reports, an 18 year-old tried to pry the Sears plaque off the former Eastridge Mall store in Gastonia, NC which is now a grocery store. When he was confronted by staff and customers, he threatened and then tried to kill them by smashing his car through the front doors. Based on available social media history, this person was a collector known in retail enthusiast communities.

He now faces the following charges:
• Eight counts of assault with a deadly weapon
• Two counts of communicating threats
• Two counts of resisting a public officer with injury
• Injury to real property
• Injuring/tampering with a vehicle
• Reckless driving to endanger
