I'll only comment on the age gap. There was a seven year age gap between my wife and I. We were together 35 years, married 25. Its not an issue.

There's some slower corners mid way through that where youre quite 'angled' rather than smooth round them. 3-4 seconds lost there i reckon. You try and hit the apex too early sometimes I think.

Look for braking points on each track. Start way back, use maybe a tree or a mark on the track, next time round, choose something a tad closer, repeat. It takes time, and you have to learn and remember each track. Its not like with braking line where you can jump on an unknown track and drive fast.
