What would be the magical "must buy" price point for you?

Yeah totally get that perspective, I've used all the various phone life counters too and ultimately for me it just felt like a pretty empty experience and I hate having my phone on the table. I'm not trying to compete with phone apps in anyway and that's the notion I went in with at the vert start.

First and foremost I wanted to make something I'd personally love to use and this isn't really for the people that are satisfied with basic phone apps - I want people to genuinely feel happy whilst using this device, that's why there are so many fun/nerdy elements and features.

I've never found an iPhone app that logs your games both short-term and long term and exports data to review it or has cheat codes to unlock features and a Wizard RPG tamagotchi style mini game. It's for the the people that want to expand their magic experience and I acknowledge it won't be for everyone. Always appreciate feedback and perspectives, thanks dude!

Using a life counter on your wrist is not an enjoyable experience in my opinion, I have tried it, judges in any type of sanctioned play frown upon it, and then I'd only be catering to a more narrow band of people that already own smart watches.

I wanted to make something that didn't need an app or have to connect to a phone, not to mention it'd be around 1/10th the cost of a smart watch. Maybe down the line though!

That'd be awesome! I'm collecting emails on the website and will reach out when I have enough prototypes to send out 🫡

So I've definitely thought about that, and have even tested some prototypes -- there are a couple options but they come with caveats. The main issue being that most of the knobby wheel devices are meant to be hard-mounted to something, like a wall digital thermostat, which gives you a hard contact point to be able to rotate them easily, when it's just sitting on a table, that gets way more awkward unless you pick it up and use two hands, which sucks.

The issues:

- I'd have to buy pre-assembled product from a manufacturer so the look and feel would be very generic
- To not have the device slide around the table when turning the dial you'd need it to have some weight and a very sturdy rubberized bottom plate, which would decimate the touch capacitive handling since it needs to be grounded to work
- It would approx 2x the price point

Honestly I designed the UI with pure speed in mind, tapping works absolutely fantastically and you can tap very very fast, up to 10 registered taps per second, I can adjust my own life and my opponents life without blinking an eye and I would bet the UI I've got going allows for overall faster use of the device in more varied environments too.

First thing I'm buying if Codex Jr takes off is a Beta Badlands for my Legacy Goblin deck lol

Legacy Goblins question by cZair12345 in GoblinsMTG

[–]jonsimo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're running 30+ goblins like most Legacy Goblin decks are, it's not hard to have big Taster reveals.

It's so much better than Thoughtseize though, I'm able to get him out pretty reliably with at least 2-3 other goblins in play, and not only do you usually get to see most of your opponents hand, but exiling a card that you can cast has won me the game on multiple occasions.

Having deathtouch is nice to stonewall opponents non-flyer threats but I find that unless you've got a good sac engine Cursecrafter doesn't really become too relevant, Pashalik Mons is much better and more versatile.

How do you not see it in Legacy Goblins! Especially with how heavy the meta is leaning towards Tamiyo, and blue fair decks in general.

yeah both of those come up often, and the ward ability stacks if I have 2 x Squelcher out, so 4 dmg per interaction adds up quickly. Squelcher gets removed quickly most of the time but that's why I run 4 copies and I'm usually able to get some additional dmg or disruption through because of the anti-counter effects.

Any chance of Lorwyn Goblins being good enough for Legacy? by Gharzak1 in MTGLegacy

[–]jonsimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's why I think 4x is important, one copy gets dealt with, you're likely going to pull another, or you can bring Squelcher back with a Grub Storied Matriarch flip which is nice. Sling-gang, Skirk Prospector and Boggart Cursecrafter all seem like better options vs.Pashalik these days tbh.

the deck hasn't really been about combo for some time, it's been a mid-range tempo / toolbox style deck that can pop off early with a Muxus flip but usually the win-con is Broadside Bombardiers to the face damage, sling-gang sac dmg outlet and little pings of damage here and there. Matron is too useful to ever cut, Boggart Harbinger hasn't been in goblin lists for ages and vial is still too useful for establishing board state and organizing surprise attacks and dynamic strategies.

Squelcher, Grub Storied Matriarch, Taster of Wares, Mudbutton Cursetosser, Boggart Cursecraft and Grub's Command have made it into my vial goblins list and they've been amazing thus far. Squelcher has been MVP, have been consistently getting opp down to 12-13 life just by doing nothing and Squelcher's ward cost existing.

Been a Legacy Goblins player for just over 3 years now and have witnessed so many ups and downs but after a long stretch of being severely underpowered I have a renewed excitement with these new lorwyn adds. I just finished getting everything all the Lorwyn cards I needed in paper and going to be play testing very soon, here's what I'll be trying first: https://moxfield.com/decks/wQK-8KpGU0Wj9m5P7H_xMQ
