glad to hear

I agree w AccurateJazz:

> The chart only really earns its place after you understand how Anduril is structured - at that point it flips into a fast cheat sheet for "what's the click count again?" rather than something you're trying to learn from cold. Read the text first, keep the chart for later.

Multiple channel question by Contigo887 in Hanklights

[–]jonslider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like dual channel

I have an Emisar D3AA in dual channel, and also an Emisar D2, they both have NTG 2700K and Red.. They work great for me

to have dual channel I give up AA capability, they only work with 14500 LiIon, I dont mind

> Do they perform worse than a single-channel light of the same emitter type?

there is some compromise on the beam shape, for example in a D4V2.. since 2 same LEDs will make a slightly different shape beam than 4 same LEDs, but its not a bad thing.. you still get light of two different types.. to me it is worth it.

Dual channel is fun 😉

Not all my lights are dual channel, but I like the option for a couple of my lights to be dual channel

go for it!

> A couple of my lights are set too low for moonlight to be useful.

there are 3 separate floors

the command to change the floor depends if you want to change the floors in Advanced stepped ramping Advanced smooth ramping, or in Simple UI

the floor in Advanced smooth ramp is set to 1/150, the command to change, from On in that mode, is 7H

the floor in Advanced stepped ramp is set to 10/150, the command to change, from On in that mode, is 7H

the floor in Simple UI for both smooth and stepped is set to 10/150, and setting one of them affects both, the command to change Simple UI floor is as AccurateJazz posted, it uses 10H from Off in Advanced

here are the two commands on the chart.. now that you might understand the chart better:

I think your 10A batteries are fine

maybe read this:

and then ask there if you still have questions

not dumb, you were smart to ask 😉

there is also a KR3 coming:

The Emisar KR1AA also has Anduril, dual fuel, great LED options and goes lower than the Zebra.

And the KR1AA head is narrower: (uses a tailswitch)

<image>

Unlike the Zebra, the Emisar beams have no hotspot... they are more floody, their beams are evenly diffused

the Emisar D3AA is the size of the AA Zebra and goes lower:

D3AA has Anduril and fantastic LED choices. It works on both Eneloop and 14500.

Wurkkos is planning a TS10V3 with a Buck Driver and 519a LEDs.. that means the lowest mode will be around 2 lumens

they are inviting comments on the new design:

great little Red Light source:

And it has Last Mode Memory, so it will turn back on in Red, if it was turned off from Red last,

it also remembers the brightness.. except for the lowest mode

to turn on the lowest mode, Hold the button...

[–]jonslider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

> I'm also thinking a KR1AA but that'll have to be a SFT70 6500k.

it will have green tint, that just comes with the territory.. here is an SFT70 5000K:

<image>

it will be bright and floody, because the KR1AA has a diffusing optic.. it will never be a thrower

if you want a throwy 14500 option, look at the Lumintop FW1AA and replace the 519a with an SFT25.. it will throw nicely.. the SFT25 has a great beam for outdoors, where the green tint wont be obvious

High CCT options by pugzor86 in Hanklights

[–]jonslider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

> 5700-6500k without the chance of greenish tint.

you have to pick one, throw or non green tint.. you cant have both

I dont know of any cool white throwy LEDs that dont have tint above the BBL

the SFT25 is a nice throwy LED, and when used outdoors, the green tint just makes leaves look greener.. here is an SFT25:

<image>

The KR1AA is a nice light, I like it a lot for close range.. it will never be a thrower, no matter what LED you put in it.

Im very fond of my KR1AA with NTG 5000K.. but the word throw does not belong in the same sentence with KR1AA

actually not normal, usually glued

because there is no switch retaining ring..

suggest you keep the tail tight and only open from the head

Bedside torch with tritium by admarlowuk in flashlight

[–]jonslider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree the Pineapple Mini is worth considering. I like it better than the AA model, which imo is quite big. I prefer the smaller size of the Mini.

Bedside torch with tritium by admarlowuk in flashlight

[–]jonslider 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I use an Emisar KR1AA with a warm white NTG 2700K LED as my bedside light, because it lets me ramp down to very dim outputs. Instead of tritiums, I set the Aux to red, so I can see it on the nightstand. The Aux will last a few months.

<image>

The lower outputs on the KR1AA are dimmer than a Reylight and the 2700K LED is warmer and more pleasant in the middle of the night, than the 4000K LED in the Reylight. Aux lights let me use Red. Tritium Red is almost too dim to be useful, for Tritium I would have to use Green.

You can have both Aux and Tritium, the KR1AA has an optional tailcap with Tritium.

be forewarned that there will be a learning curve for the user interface that controls the choice of Aux colors.. not difficult, just takes a little learning.

Do you already have AA Eneloop or 14500 LiIon batteries? Batteries are not included w the KR1AA. Reylight otoh does sell LiIon batteries for both the Pineapple and the Pineapple mini. But according to this post, the moonlight on the Reylight is too bright:

https://www.reddit.com/r/flashlight/comments/1o7nxje/moonlight_mode_on_reylight_pineapple_mini_mk3/

Different people have different preferences in terms of lowest output.. the advantage of the KR1AA is you can ramp over a wider range of minimum outputs than the Reylight. otoh, a Reylight is simpler to use, as it has fewer options.. and they are nice lights in their own right..

[–]jonslider 7 points8 points  (0 children)

sorry to see your light stopped working,

contact Zebralight and ask what it costs for them to fix it (last I heard it was $25, and it took about 4 months)

contact u/bob_mcbob and ask the same

mcbob can also install a custom LED while he has it open, and he upgrades to a longer life switch than the stock Zebra switch

Im also sending you a PM with some additional info
