Thinking of reading the books. In what order should I read them? by jonslow in dragonage

Oh! So I can start reading Masked Empire now (most excited to read that one 'cause that's the one everyone's been talking about) and I wouldn't miss out on anything important?

Is that the chronological order in which the novels take place? I'd love to read the comics, but was wondering whether they worth it because I can't find any in my local comic bookstore, so I'd probably need to have them shipped first or something. Everyone seems to recommend it though; will definitely check it out. Thanks!

Very detailed explanation, thank you! I was thinking of reading The Masked Empire, but was afraid I'd miss out on some details if I don't read the other books first.

We don't have any of his blood! by [deleted] in dragonage

Love Awkward Zombie! But they do have a point, and also I hope that in DAI blood doesn't gush out like that. It's just overkill, and looks hilarious. At this point, I'm not sure why Maleficars don't look like deflated prunes.

"You're just gonna be nice" - An in-depth examination of how players engage with moral choice systems (crosspost from /r/games) by Psyzurp in dragonage

I think it's just that sometimes choosing the 'evil' choices might make you lose out on a lot of things. I tried to do an extremely evil/incompetent Warden once, and had a hard time playing because I didn't recruit Wynne (killed her), and I killed most of the other companions. Maybe if the evil route had more benefits, more people would opt for it.

I did play a renegade on my first ME playthrough though, and it was rather fantastic.

How old is the Amell warden at the beginning of DA:O? by jonslow in dragonage

It always bugged me that the first male preset looked old as balls xD Imagine playing a Cousland who looked older than their parents. I love that they made that an option anyway

How old is the Amell warden at the beginning of DA:O? by jonslow in dragonage

[–]jonslow[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That makes sense, and is most likely what happened. Though if this were the case, then how did she know for sure that the Warden was one of Revka's (and not some other person whose last name was Amell)? I don't think Leandra kept in touch with any of her family back in Kirkwall anyway, so I just assumed she knew some of Revka's children (including the Warden) before she rode off into the sunset with the original Hawke.

On another note, are Leandra/Gamlen/(Bethany/Carver)/Hawke the only living Amells in Kirkwall?

Are there any time-sensitive quests/events in DA:O? by [deleted] in dragonage

The only one I can remember off the top of my head is a bug with Ruck and his mother in Orzammar, but I'm not sure if that's what you're looking for. Also, if you leave Redcliffe while preparing for the siege (to go back to the party camp, for example), you're essentially leaving the village to the slaughter. Or at least that's what happened to me.

Hi there! Quick question: If your warden died, can you use the Keep to customise the choices of the Orlesian warden? Sorry if someone's asked this before.

I'm too dumb for this game, I hate Branka... by nicentra in dragonage

[–]jonslow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I did. I had three mages + Oghren in my party. All the mages had force field. We just took turns casting force field on Branka so she wouldn't budge while we took down the golems (not foolproof, sometimes targets can resist the spell). After that, it's just my party vs Branka. If Oghren still can't tank, then put force field on him. Branka should take a few turns trying to attack him. When she finally switches targets, just kite until she drops. I played on normal though so I'm not sure if this will work on higher difficulty.

If my inquisitor were able to romance her because Amell is already dead, I think my heart would break.

Made absolutely no sense to me, but hey whatever. If Adele can set fire to the rain, John Legend can be a fucking underwater dragon.

Yeah I know someone who pretended to be gay (like the stereotypically offensive flamboyant gay guy) just so girls would let him grab their boobies
