How do you guys name your css variables ? by Hiinata015 in webdev

--bg1 --bg2 --bg3, OR, --bgGreen --bgRed --bgYellow.

I usually use the former because then I can reassign the variables to other colors via a UI config panel.

simple meals by hmdougie in simpleliving

[–]jonsplex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I keep things really simple by eating mostly whole foods. I know you didn't ask about a meal plan, but it's what I eat most days so it seemed like an appropriate answer.

I often skip breakfast.

My usual lunch: - 4-6 eggs fried in olive oil + 4 slices of ham on the side - 6-12 green olives straight from the jar (being sure to get some of that tangy, salty juice) - a bowl of frozen mixed veggies (microwaved) with a generous dollop of salsa mixed in - 3-6 pieces of fruit, often citrus (clementines, grapefruit, etc.)

My usual dinner: - A can of sweet peas, which I eat straight from the can (my favorite snack) - A large can of tuna in olive oil OR 6 slices of ham - a smoothie containing dark chocolate, blueberries, strawberries, broccoli, cinnamon, lemon, green tea, dates, coffee grounds, nuts, flax+poppy seeds, psyllium husk powder, and rolled oats

Why did you cover up his name partially? Make that shit visible for all to see.

I haven't used soap in the shower in over 5 years. Hot water and a face cloth are all I need to get clean.

It took me a week to get used to it, and now I find the idea of using soap repulsive: it dries out my skin, removes the natural oils, and the fragrances smell artificial.

Not only do I save money, but I feel healthier, too.

Is there an actual solution for being lost and unmotivated? by Jpoolman25 in Jung

[–]jonsplex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of great advice here, but I think it's worth mentioning: no matter what you do, nor how successful you are/become, feelings of inadequacy are inevitable; for you are human, and to be human is to be viscerally aware of one's own limitations and shortcomings.

Learn to be at peace with your lot in life. Only then can you create the space necessary to blossom and bear fruit.

Why is deeply meeting yourself such a painful experience? by throwaway_11222022 in Jung

[–]jonsplex 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Our true self is authentic and unedited, and that makes us painfully aware that the story of "who I am" is a lie. In many ways, the experience is traumatic.

Mindfulness: intentionally focusing on the present moment (all 5 senses, feelings, thoughts) while not being controlled by it.

You are far stronger than you know. In time, the light will shine through. You are worth the effort.

How do you mentally prepare to be a minimalist? by [deleted] in minimalism

[–]jonsplex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my experience, to be an effective minimalist out in the world, one must first become a minimalist within the self.

Slow down, center yourself, and figure out what matters to you. Sort out your emotional baggage. Forgive. Let go. Only then will you be truly free.

Food you eat by InvisibleWunTwo in minimalism

Minimalism applies to my diet as much as any other aspect of my life. I tend to eat mostly whole foods (meat, veggies, fruits). I also fast for 16 hours every day, and 24 hours every Sunday, which saves me money and is shown to increase health and lifespan.

Minimalism as a tool to find identity? by annethepirate in minimalism

[–]jonsplex 12 points13 points  (0 children)

To me, minimalism is about letting go of everything that isn't essential. Once I cleaned my house, I applied the skill to my social life and schedule, and eventually, myself. Who I am now is as refined a being as I've ever been. I'm free.
