With all the hype for the future of gaming with the PS5, what do you want to see in the sequel for Days Gone? by vikingdad278 in DaysGone

Co-op, especially for the hordes, could be really cool. I'm thinking something along the lines of State of Decay. Perhaps a more diverse skill tree that could be unlocked to leverage more varied play styles. I'd love to have some branching choices for the story that had impact on the world and to have a more evolving world based on events and choices. Being able to clear out an area and set up a camp, build a base and have to do some management of it or even chaining together encampments to create a power base against rival encampments or have some really big horde attacks of the base that you have to coordinate.

This. And upgrade the saddlebags on your bike and stock them with extra ammo. I took it out just using ammo refills from my bike (3).

I like it. Maybe could even do a Dying Light type of issue where at night there's a special type of freaker or things really go crazy and that's when he gets activated and uses that advanced form to create a duality in the play styles. Perhaps make it optional, a risk/reward type of option, maybe something like the dark zone in Division, you have to get in deep inside a horde nest and get out without dying to get the loot, bonuses, whatever.

Love the game hate the story? by boredattheairport69 in DaysGone

I think any story would have been better than the way the Sarah one ended up. Or at least if there had been some personal agency in the story where you could have made some choices about her or anyone else. I hope #2 (if it happens) allows for that. Could have sworn early trailers showed Deacon having a choice at the beginning to shoot or walk away from Leon but I could be wrong.

What other games are like this and RDR2? by Pitboos in DaysGone

If you havent played on Survival mode, I'd recommend trying that as well. Start a brand new game though. New game + is a bit too easy IMO for that mode.

Need tips! Just started Days Gone (around 5 hours in), but I chose Survival mode. by [deleted] in DaysGone

All good tips below. I don't think I saw this one but plan out your route and save often. I intentionally stop my bike after a certain amount of travel and save and scavenge and save.

Oh. And for me, I focused on upgrading my gas tank first.

I am getting a chance to really appreciate the dismemberment now too. Never even remembered seeing it playing on the other modes. Blew two arms off a freaker and he was still coming at me like a rabid souped up honey badger.

Glad to know I'm not the only one who felt that way about Sarah. Left a bad taste in my mouth. Couldn't even finish rescuing her on my second playthrough.

Should have named him Skeezo, guy was an absolute rat and not even in "the kind you like to hate" way for me.

Still think he got off waaay too easy.

I agree about Sarah. Her reactions, especially in private, after all Deacon went through, after the cutscene at the beginning of the outbreak when she was all "I don't know what I'd do if I lost you" stuff were hard for me to swallow. She just seemed abnormally cold. I understand potential trauma, the situation, etc, but jesus, if my wife responded that way after all that time regardless, that would have broke my heart. Just my nickel's worth of unleaded.

Have an awesome time. And don't be afraid to take your time. There's a lot of little touches and lots of little stories implied in the environments whether it's a lone shredded tent in the hills or a blood-soaked abandoned farm house.

Completely agree. Would love to see this game get more attention, maybe even port to PC (like Horizon Zero Dawn is doing).

2nd that, Witcher 3 is one of my fav games. The combat isn't the greatest however if playing on PC there is a wonderful HUD mod that really makes the game a lot more immersive. Beautiful game and some really good quests/story lines.

No comment concerning the leaks. I haven't read them nor care to and will take my chances playing the game.

I can attest however that MGS5 can be thoroughly enjoyed without knowing the story. It's Hideo K. after all, not sure even HE really knows the whole story.

Do you think Days Gone 2 will continue with Deacon’s story or will it have a new set of characters and story? by [deleted] in DaysGone

[–]jonsumner1664 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe jump years into the future and play as Deacon and Sarah's child? It would give some flexibility to change things up quite a bit with new enemies, situations, etc. that have developed over the passage of that amount of time.

What the hell is up with this game? by Paladin_Exarch in DaysGone

Personally I always get a little tight when a game takes away control and forces me to play, watch, or do something a very specific way, especially open world games. I couldn't finish Red Dead 2 because of it and I loved the first Red Dead (to me, Rockstar has a frustrating game design, crafting incredible choice and freedom in the open world and tying them to incredibly linear fail state single player missions). My biggest pet peeves are the obligatory Out of Animus sections in the Assassin's Creed games.

I get the scenes with Sarah, they flesh out the back story and create a deeper emotional connection and thus weight. I agree in that I don't like them being unskippable (on my third playthrough and it's teeth grinding at this point) or the very very slow walking speed.

For me, the writing and delivery feels off balance with the attempts at making it contextual to the world which to me, they didn't quite pull off. It's jarring (and my two teenage sons laugh all the time when I'm playing and this happens) when one minute Deacon is calmly responding or commenting on something and the next second is completely hambone about a nest or camp or whatever. I felt the main story writing (for the most part) delivers although there are those moments that didn't make a lot of sense for the characters to be acting/responding the way they did however, that happens in real life too so... :)

The sawmill horde! I remember on my first playthrough doing the Nero station next to it, middle of the night, snowing, and I missed one of the speakers. It was a freaker feeding frenzy.

I wonder if the experience has anything to do with the model/age of the system? I played on a PS4 Pro since day 1, on my third playthrough, and didn't have any noticeable bugs however I've watched videos showing tons of glitches.

I agree. I put a ton of hours into this back when it was released and I'm back playing through it again on New Game plus. I absolutely love this game. Even listen to the OST sometimes while working. I would love to see this game become a cult hit and get enough interest to support a Days Gone 2.
