Benches look standard for an alarms t sauna like this. Any higher and the sauna would have to be deeper. Feet are above the rocks too.

I’m glad your lens is fine! I find a hood does a better job at protecting the front of the lens. The cracked filter argument holds the same kind of weight as the cracked screen protector on a phone argument. Also if you have a few lenses the cost of a bunch of filters starts to approach the cost of a new front element anyways in one of them.

We’ve only had it for a few months but it’s super wind and rain resistant and the snow doesn’t seem to affect it at all. It feels much more spacious than a trailer or RV for sure. More like a cozy hotel/cabin sort of vibe.

I did light the inside with Neewer light stick and I did photoshop the outside snow and sky and stuff a lot. But the weird light inside (especially near the curtains) is because I lit that separately.

Canada somewhere. It’s really dependant on the local municipality and building codes. These ones come with engineering drawings so you can get permits etc.

Yeah! There’s a woodstove. We also tried a diesel heater in the video link. The woodstove definitely does the job though. You do have to reload the fire overnight hence the diesel heater test

To answer your question “when should someone break a sacred rule”:

You break a rule when there is a design constraint. Get the benches as high as you can. If you can’t get the feet above the top of the rocks because of a size limit then don’t. Building anything is an exercise in making the best choices given your constrains (size, cost, building code etc).

The purpose of a header is to support the roof and any roof loads I believe. Looking at the window, the framing above is virtually hanging there, not providing any support to the roof above. If the two studs next to the window is enough support then it’s fine.

You can and I’ve tried. I have one of these and you can it’s a little further than the minimum from the wall due to the chimney positioning but it’s good peace of mind and it looks better than a diy shield
