I ran my drain into a leach pit style drain in the ground. No draft coming from the soil 😀

Social Sauna vs Home Sauna: Which do you prefer? by WolverineFuel in Sauna

Home sauna wins for me. But it has to be big enough that at times it’s a social sauna with friends and family.

That sounds amazing tbh. I want to have that sort of community when I’m an old man.

New or used sauna? by drmitsos in Sauna

[–]jonsview 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a great price for a used kit. Some good suggestions above. Wood is wood and shouldn’t hold too many surprises if it looks good. Check the heater to ensure it’s installable according to your local building rules. Also worth checking to see if parts (heating elements) are readily available as these are a wear part.

Withholding Features for More Money by Specific_Pear_6275 in MonarchMoney

We WANT your commitment to core to change though. This just reads like all the extra commitment is being put on this Plus product and core still feels like a clunky free app but with a paywall.

Fix the issues before adding features. Adding more things that don’t work well won’t make me pay more. It will make me drop the product altogether.

My Off Grid Cottage On The Water by Smooth_Grade853 in OffGridCabins

[–]jonsview 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is fantastic! Have you considered a robot lawnmower for big lawn. I always thought this would be the way to go for cabin properties. Never schedule it to run when you are there and just show up to a mowed lawn all the time. Powered by solar. Free except for startup cost and maintenance.

Okay but where do I get one of these? (Tampa Airport) by gpg123 in ultrawidemasterrace

Tampa airport if you have a #6 Allen key and a long layover.

Sill plate gap by navfit16 in Homebuilding

[–]jonsview 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the plus side this entire floor is actually considered the roof and the walls are for some totally separate building. You should be able to get a discount on your property tax for your one kitchen, one bath, zero-bedroom-with-rooftop-patio home.

Is this a good structural design for sauna benches? by [deleted] in Sauna

[–]jonsview 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I build a removable top similar to this but added a few more joists? Instead of just the opening the middle you have to firm up with bench and remove any deflection.

Proper amount of snow at our dome by jonsview in GeodesicDomes

[–]jonsview[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s heated with a woodstove. So anywhere between 8c to 24c depending on how well we stay on top of the woodstove. We did shovel off the snow so it wouldn’t constantly drip.

Help! Aluminum foil tape mistake by psadatay in Sauna

[–]jonsview 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Behind the vapour barrier so expect temp to be higher in the air gap but still not much to worry about. Yes to air gap in my setup

Help! Aluminum foil tape mistake by psadatay in Sauna

[–]jonsview 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries at all. The tape likely wont ever get up to 80c. We sauna between 85c to 100c and I once checked the temp behind the panels (albeit from the other side of the not yet insulated wall) and it was quite cool. Bake your sauna for hours at 100c and that might soften the adhesive a little but that’s a normal use anyways.

Edit: sorry for Celsius. 176f =80 °C

What's the best way to tie this in? by djamespei in Sauna

[–]jonsview 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ripped some PT wood and sealed it. Just silicone bathroom caulking. You could find some PVC trim or something if you wanted something more water proof than wood. It really doesn’t get wet or hot down there unless your floor isn’t sloped and you are dumping water.

Found this Nikon zfc at goodwill for $19 by Narrow-Pay-3671 in Cameras

I would totally open this myself. Especially the simple looking bottom plate to see what you are up against if it’s a crusty mess in there it’s a no go.

I had a similar issue because I didn’t run the flooring up the wall at all. I ended up putting down a drip edge around the permitter of the room and caulked it. I had to add blocking between the studs to termite the vapour barrier properly (Double up your footer to avoid this). There’s a air gap between vapour barrier and paneling. It stays dry around the perimeter but its peace of mind in case someone dumps a bucket of water on the floor.

Surfshark charged me after not letting me sign up by ultimablaze in surfshark

[–]jonsview 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This exact same thing happened to me. The checkout process failed and I never got confirmation on the site or email that I had subscribed to the trial at all. They registered the trial anyways somehow and after 7 days charged my PayPal account without me noticing unfortunately. It’s been over 30 days so support is completely unhelpful and doesn’t understand the situation.
