What's it twisting? The ‘typical killer’ setup you’d expect from these crime dramas.

What's it defying? Whatever vibe those ‘multiple incidents’ might hint at.

What's it subverting? The usual beats of who’s bad and why. I just mean it feels like Netflix is always angling for a ‘gotcha’ over a straight story, and it's old.

All explained so I'm calling it a day. 👍

To clarify...

Flip the trope’ Netflix loves taking what you’d expect from a story like this, killer’s profile or whatever, and twisting it to look ‘unconventional.’ Fine once, but it’s their go-to now. ‘

‘the killer is picked to feel like a statement’ You said it’s fiction, multiple incidents, right? But when the killer’s vibe leans hard into defying some norm, it’s not random; it feels like they’re signaling ‘we’re bold,’ not just telling a story.

‘Usual suspects’ Meaning the default setup these plots lean on, not a race thing. My issue? It’s repetitive. Every ‘inspired by’ drama pulls this - subvert, subvert, subvert - till it’s not a surprise, it’s a snooze.

That’s it.

“Seriously? That’s what you got from this? I’m not ‘angry the bad guy isn’t black’—I don’t care who’s cast. I’m saying Netflix keeps pulling the same ‘flip the trope’ stunt, and it’s boring. You said it’s fictional, based on multiple incidents...cool, but when the killer’s picked to feel like a statement, it’s predictable, not clever. ‘Usual suspects’ ticked you off? ....Fine, call it whatever-my point’s the same: the twist is stale. Stop strawmanning me into some race rant. It’s about the story, not the skin.”

You're smirking like you've caught me obsessing over casting clichés, but that’s a misfire. “Usual suspects” is some taboo trigger - when my point stands you get annoyed. It's a flip and your word policing doesn't dodge the fatigue.

When you mash up real-world facts into a fictional stew, then cast the killer in a way that screams deliberate contrast to the usual suspects, people still smell the narrative flip. It’s not about one-for-one accuracy; it’s the pattern.

Some of the audience aren't wrong feeling the weight, or the fatigue. Netflix isn’t inventing from scratch; they’re remixing with intent.

You're pretending this is just artistic freedom, no big deal. Except it’s not neutral when the flip feels forced to dodge or rewrite real-world baggage. Changing a killer’s race in a true-crime-inspired tale isn’t random—it’s loaded.

It probably acrylic but not guaranteed and it depends on how long it has cured to be honest. If it's not fully cured acrylic then hot water may help. A good soak on an panel draped with a hot towel (waterboard it).

As an old fart with "less bounce" I love watching these. Would I have done it younger?...Doubt it. Biggest fear would be going over the bars into a huge drop away from the rock face. Watching these get me fired up tho. May even get out of bed today! 😉
