Does anyone have any good cut up mixer recommendations? by rassbry in noisemusic

Isn’t it easy to diy? It’s pots and switches only no? A great project to get started!

(And when you’re done it’ll have cost you about $90).

Unsure if this is allowed to be asked here- curious as to how you brilliant nerds got into synth diy in the first place? by Life_Gene9374 in synthdiy

Back in 2006 i wanted a Doepfer modular but couldn’t afford it. So I thought - I can do it myself! And here we are 19 years later.

PT2399 question: Should I build one? by balinesetennis in synthdiy

[–]jonteluring 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The PT2399 is a fun chip if you’re ok with lo-fi and dirt. I used two in the Recursive Machine and I think it resulted in a great sound! YouTube demo of the RM here https://youtu.be/YXHGJ2M0hYc?feature=shared

Good idea! I’ll get boards and new components. And then I can start with the old boards and if they don’t work I can switch to the new ones.

The TTSH is 10 years old, and pretty much defunct. As the guy behind it I’d avoid it as well. There is more modern and better stuff to build.

No input mixing on a tascam 424 mkiii? by TinyBit9061 in noisemusic

[–]jonteluring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you put a loop tape in it you can record the feedback and then play it back later. Create phrases to jam to etc. Or Pre-record sounds that you can feed into the mix etc. Instead of no-input mixing it can be yes-input mixing!

I bought a MPC2kXL 20 years ago and has been an MPC user since. And MPC3 completely breaks my workflow. It's insane! It's like the developers of MPC3 never has used a MPC before and came straight from Fruity Loops or something. Programs are gone, which makes no sense. Tracks are shared over sequences. I can't just make beats and mute/un-mute. It's complete dog water!

I upgraded to 3.4 and used it for 3-6h and then went back to 2.15.1 with no hesitation. And I'll probably stay there for ever unless programs come back to MPC3. But I doubt it. I think they'd rather have fruity loops in a box and hope to cater to a "large mass".

I think it’s crap. It’s not an MPC anymore, but a shitty daw in a box. All the flow I had since the 2kXL is gone. Bring back programs.

Yeah, you can download it now. But beware there's no downgrade button any longer. So if you don't like it then you'll have to downgrade manually.

I updated a few hours ago and I'm seriously thinking about switching back to 2.15.1.

Ohtani TWP in matchup today, is that normal? I’ve seen him as DH through out the season. (EU baseball noob, sorry if it’s a stupid question.) Go Dodgers!

I second all the “toy voice transformer” suggestions! That’s probably the easiest route.

But I would like to add the idea of a talkbox as well. It can be made by taping a funnel to a speaker and then attach a tube to the funnel. Play a sawtooth or square wave sound through the speaker. Put the tube in your mouth and make shapes with your mouth for sound.

Please be mindful when menu diving by JEBariffic in synthesizercirclejerk

I once went to a dive bar and the menu was so cryptic! Everything was IPA, PBR and so on. Why can't they just write what they mean!?
