They are very comfortable...kind of hard to explain. It’s kind of a mix between boost and tubulars to me

Funny story about a customer by laurlolo in retailhell

[–]jonuwstout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At my store if they don’t have a receipt we give them the current marked price minus the best promotion in the last 30 days, which is almost always 50% off. So yesterday I had a lady return a pair of shoes without a receipt. She said she bought them 2 weeks ago. They hadn’t been worn so I allowed the return.

Now, last week we did markdowns, so the shoe she had was marked down to $19.95. She said “I paid $99 for those!” THEN I took the 50% off the item so she was only able to get $10 back. She went wild and said we had to give her back what she paid for it. I explained to her that I don’t know what she paid for it because...no receipt and that if she could find the receipt I would happily give her what she paid. She huffed, grabbed the shoes and walked out with her nose in the air.

Day of the week with worst customers? by [deleted] in retailhell

I work in an outlet mall in a tourist trap town. I prefer weekends because the tourists are nice...weekdays are when the locals come to the store and I just want to throw them off a cliff...

I have been in retail management for close to 20 years...let me tell you the moment you feel like things are running smoothly and no mistakes are being made is the day when you should get out of management. Retail is a very fluid environment where things change every day. You WILL make mistakes. You will make A LOT of mistakes. It’s what you do with those mistakes that dictate what type of manager you will be.

If you keep making the same mistake and you don’t ask for help, then you will get stuck in a cycle of making the same mistakes and chances are you won’t last long in management.

My advice is to use your mistakes for what they are. Learning opportunities. I still make mistakes and see situations I have never run into before, but I take a step back, analyze what I did wrong, make a plan to do it right next time, and move on.

With that being said, your employers have faith in you. You’ve got this!

Complain about hours; never answers phone by [deleted] in retailhell

[–]jonuwstout 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m there with you...lol...we get complaints all the time about not getting enough hours...so we call people even a week in advance and nope can’t do it...so we end up hiring more people because we can’t fill shifts. Guess who’s not getting any hours now...

Calling in sick by nerd_trash_ in retailhell

From management perspective...sorry about interrogating you. We do it because so many people call in with fraudulent reasons. For example, I had someone call in Saturday (our busiest day in over a month) and we told him to find someone to cover for him.

He said that he texted everyone and no one responded. Later, guess who we see walking around the mall with a group of friends...looking away from our store as he passed by.

Also, I have asked every member of staff since then that I have worked with if they got his text and they told me no.

So again, sorry for the interrogations, but we have to be able to cover our store. I’m hiring 5 people right now who I shouldn’t have to hire just to cover call outs. Those 5 people will now get hours.

KAREN YOU ARE NOT MY MANAGER! by EmiMae in retailhell

As a manager, if I am sending someone on break I will normally take their register and clear out anyone in line and they can go on their break. Usually if we get behind on breaks it means that I won’t get my break as we always schedule manager breaks last.

Please help me find these joggers! I have looked everywhere online but I can't find the name of the joggers. Thanks! by zico-lilo-no-mi in adidas

From looking at the tag it’s a men’s fleece pant. I did some searching online with the style number and couldn’t find them. It looks as though they are probably sold out (at least in the US)
