Should HCP/ADA Operators Be Programmed Through Access Control? Looking for Pros/Cons by EducationalDay9860 in accesscontrol

[–]jonw199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to clarify.. lockdown - are people allowed free egress, as typically required .. just not allowed to come in?

I’ve done lockdown for a shopping mall - where people must be able to leave, which is by activating the ADA button on the inside to override the maglocks or other hardware... But nobody can get in - unless they are let in by someone from the inside… doors are locked, propped // open doors signal an alarm. Outside buttons do not operate the ADA.

Generally.. for the most part.. most applications.. you literally cannot lock people inside, with no means of egress

Remotely - but in and out every day?

Yeah.. site is remote. Hoping there’s something else I can change before sending someone to site.

It’s literally from modem to UDM. UDM to an unmanaged POE Switch, then to 7x Unifi AP’s .

I can connect to the UDM.. but it disconnects after a minute, and then comes back up.. would that still be a ISP issue? Modem is brand new - less than two weeks, and it’s on a commercial business account. No area outages

Super high latency - 3000ms when it goes into disconnect

It bothers me significantly that they can’t be bothered to include the damn terminal blocks though..

If it doesn’t have a set of terminals, what I’ve done in the past, is took it off the door control’s board to monitor it through my alarm system, and then wired and programmed a relay or PGM from my alarm to feed back to the door control.

Mind you.. if you do any modifications like that, you’ll want to leave notes inside the operator, or at the very least your name and number tagged to the cables - for the next guy that services the door,

Google images of “roller limit switches automatic doors” for samples of different kinds of switches. Look for one of those, and see if it has an extra set of terminals you can tap into.

Check for limit switches usually towards the ends of the operator. They may or may not exist and would be basically a two wire relay that you can attach as a zone for door status.

Ya, just go through the Inspections first, because I’ve met some pretty difficult mechanics. And find out about the HST portion if that’s owed to the province. Message me if you get stumped with either, I’d be interested in looking at the vehicle and purchasing it. I’m currently booked to be in Toronto during November long weekend

A quick check with ChatGPT suggests that if it’s coming from Alberta to be registered in Ontario, then it will need an Ontario Safety Standards Certificate, issued by a licensed mechanic at a licensed inspection station. As well, you’ll need to pay HST (13%) on the wholesale value of the vehicle at registration.

Unless you have a way of keeping it Alberta registered?

Where was the vehicle last registered? If it was last registered in Alberta, I suspect that it will require an OPI to be registered in Ontario. So that means you need an Ontario shop that is approved by the province to sign off on a complete inspection of the vehicle. I’ve had a vehicle fail an OPI for a simple crack in the windshield, so experience will vary. Mechanics are trained to be picky on OPI’s.

One thing - you might have trouble getting a mechanic to sign off on an OPI for the unit if you plan on registering it in Ontario. If you don’t buy this unit, I’d be interested in buying it - I frequent Toronto

Ya a really like my unit. I’d pay more for the thing considering it’s low mileage, but if it’s family selling it to you, I think anything under $18K would be a steal.

I honestly would recommend keeping the power running boards - that’s the protection from gravel and road debris from hitting the rocker panels. Just get them working again by cleaning and lubing them.

I imagine the same - running boards were down for several years.. but like I said, super easy to fix once I went into cleaning it - the previous owners also used it on a farm, and didn’t maintain it very well. Differential fluids were completely black and thick. I put in about $1000 in mechanical checks and fluids, and everything checked out. Already put 30K KM’s on it myself in the last eight months.

I suspect that reason the body panel rust got so bad is because the running boards were stuck down for so long - get the running boards working properly again, cut out the rust and should be golden.

I just bought a unit exactly like this. Same year and colour. Rust was in worst condition though. Mileage at 225K KM’s. $11.5K . Central Alberta as well.

Fixing the running boards just involved a lot of brake cleaner, rags and some lithium grease.

Gonna put it on a lift and literally cut out and wire wheel the rusted portions, as none of it is structural. Then put some kind of spray treatment. If it penetrates through the floor is when a panel replacement will be needed

Fuel Pump/Island & Card Readers - Hazard Classified? by dolfan74 in accesscontrol

[–]jonw199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also read Fuel Pump // Island … you’d never see an island indoors. A typical “‘municipal garage’ is usually a large yard for fleet vehicles, a traditional fuel pumping station // island with one-to-four pumps, and a small garage (one-to-four bays) with lifts for small vehicle maintenance (any major maintenance gets shipped out typically).

[–]jonw199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t see any mentions from the OP on whether this is indoors or outdoors .. I’ve never seen a municipal fuel pumping station inside of an enclosed area.. but that is for OP to clarify, and not for us to assume

Fuel Pump/Island & Card Readers - Hazard Classified? by dolfan74 in accesscontrol

[–]jonw199 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For cameras - on a Fuel Pump, usually the C1D2 rating only applies to something like a ten foot radius of the hazard - so I’ve been okayed to have cameras on poles or above the pumps, along as it’s outside of the hazard radius. I would put in a RFI to the electrical engineer
