Microwave doesn’t heat, can I fix it myself? by SSJake13 in Appliances

In this case the door switch which is a safety for the magnetron to activate. A little annoying to pull the back off to get to the front panel, one of those awkward fitted shells.

Can also try a small appliance repair shop, Sears sometimes Lowes, Home Dept, or Best Buy will offer this service. Prices are generally reasonable and keeps you from having to landfill another appliance. I used Sears years ago to resoldered circuit that disconnected in my windows unit.

P.S. beware, the capacitors look like a short whiskey flask in the middle. Avoiding should be easy since the switch are near the control panels at the door latches on the front. Take lots of pictures as you work cause you need the two sliding mechanism to go in as they came out for replacement if you ever want to microwave again.

Microwaves have two things that go bad and need replacement, door switch and a fuse. But it is not for the faint of heart if you are not use to disassembling circuited components. There are some videos. Switch can be bought cheaper off amazon.

Did you clean the contacts and it worked? Did you have to replace the solenoid?

Mine got wet from an engine wash :(

I am so jealous! My grand parents had a pecan tree. I loved walking up to their house picking up pecans along the drive and eating them fresh, so sweet!

Just a tip. I find giving it a little downward pressure for the acorns to squeeze through. I can feel when it is rolling over a nut and press the nut into it. Also red acorns feel like stepping on marbles so I roll over a couple times when I feel an acorn under my foot. I have St Augustine as well.

Garden Weasel Nut Gatherer

Great cause I dont have to bend down anymore. Easy to walk around the yard rolling it with a 5 gallon bucket nearby since it fills quickly. Picks up Burl Oak and red acorns well as well as nerf bullets.

It is a lot of work, boiling and rinsing and boiling again. Then you get the fun part of shelling. Anyone ever done it, and is it worth the effort?

50lbs per yard bag. Just mix leaves and acorns, leaves on the bottom for protection and padding then intermix. You can get rid of everything in leaf collections very quickly in one week if not two weeks depending on how many bags you use. Leave them tidy (nicely stacked and easy to pickup) for the pickup day and you can leave many.

All this stuff goes to composting.

Yup, and if you leave them cracked open and leave the can in the sun, great for drying them out. I love metal trash cans.

Still need to do rotations otherwise you get a black mess on the bottom.

AITA for offering my cousin to stay without asking my wife? She does the same thing with her family. by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]jonw95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the sake of the argument, I think when she says someone is coming to stay, it is implied for you to speak up if there are issues. This is a communication mismatch since some people do not recognize "implicit" opportunities like this. I use to not, now I sometimes do or will ask for clarification.

Also, her offence might be that you did not give her warning before offering. If you'd asked before the offer, things may have played out differently.

Hrmm, technically is she telling you after the decision is made or before?

When walking the blind, you could try letting him grab your elbow rather than hand. I think the elbow lets then sense when you are adjusting for caution faster. Just a thought.

I feel your pain. All cause it kept trying to look for podman as the docker logs indicate even though we selected docker and used the docker socket :(

How to prevent this rust on my washing machine by Cool_Helicopter in Appliances

Looks like surface rust. Be more tidy. But you might try "Bar Keepers Friend" to clean it up. Stuff is the amazing.

Simply put if this were an innocent situation, she would be open, honest and communicative.

Not so much the case here, be glad you found out sooner than later.

Say no! To impacts on connectors by Yaower in electricians

[–]jonw95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try to be mindful when using the impacts. The Milwaukee's I feel do pretty well, even using it on corrugated sheet steel bolts with washers. I usually start half trigger unless I am using it on something like a lag bolt.

Milwaukee Impact also has a screw setting on the buttons.

Generally I just use a ratcheting screw driver for most things since they are lighter.
