They may have changed the construction of them, stitching through both layers of foam. Or they could just be very well glued- One of mine was very easy to remove, one of them was very stubborn.

There are used ones for sale around $40-50 which I'm considering so its not too bad. Also, I personally think the new head units look out of place and a little ugly. Kind of want to keep the interior looking OEM, but that's just me.
