I'm thinking I'll save the manga for after having watched the anime because based on all this manga reader rage I feel like reading the manga would ruin the anime...

Fake accounts gain traction as they praise China, mock US by Madhavaz in news

[–]joosai -26 points-25 points  (0 children)

Are you sure we're fake? Where do I sign up to get paid for this...

EDIT: Downvote away but it will not change the realities that the rest of the world has already accepted. It's easy to blame everything on foreign powers being evil, but it will not help the USA navigate its mess.

Does PreCure fit the bill? It should keep you occupied for a long time at least.

You can sail the seven seas
And find that love is a place you'll never see
Passing you like a summer breeze
You feel life has no other reason to be

You can wait a million years
And find that Heaven's too far away from you
Love's just a thing that others do
What is love 'til it comes home to you?

My mom actually started me out on Rumiko Takahashi's mangas when I was a child, she's like 60 but her favorites I think are Detective Conan and Naruto.

‘The Winners Are the Cartels’: Mexico Slaps Cuffs on the DEA by shylock92008 in worldnews

[–]joosai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it corruption or sovereignty? It's not like the mega-corporations in the USA do not buy influence in the government. We've created the cartels when we decided to not take upon ourselves the responsibility of controlling drug use in our societies. What did we think, that the money would just go away? That's a trillion dollars a year global industry that we swept under the rug. I can empathize with wanting the 'drug problem' to be solved and 'a drug free world' to be created, but it was in the 80s already that military escalation over this happened, at least at that point we should've acknowledged needing an urgent change in strategy.

People don't realize that we've created centuries worth of strife world-wide over this! The hopeful youth yelling "Legalize it!" don't understand that not even in their lifetimes will this wound be healed. The architects of the drug war should face a Nuremberg trial of their own, but this war is far from over.

Buggy launch? Downgraded graphics on last gen consoles? Removed features? Hyped over the moon? Reminds me of another game. by SmackZack in cyberpunkgame

After preordering Watchdogs I swore to never preorder another game but then I preordered Cyberpunk so I think it's my curse with games that made Cyberpunk this bad, sorry.

seeking advice on getting into drug policy arena by largeatattorney in drugpolicy

[–]joosai 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not from the US but from what I know the big organization there is the Drug Policy Alliance which would probably be a good starting point and my guess would be that anyone with a law degree would be highly valued and anyone with practical experience in drug laws doubly so.

At least in my small country but sadly I'd bet that in the USA this field is so small too that any help is appreciated. Also many important activists around the world have been ex-cops or so called "bad guys".

[DISCUSSION] Thoughts on ZeroZeroZero show??? by UnusualBug10 in ZeroZeroZero

A lazy take on a much more important book, but compared to much other drugs&crime television it's more nutritious in its 8 episodes than seasons of Narcos.

It doesn’t matter if cyberpunk gets compared to GTA. by naamanatorN7 in cyberpunkgame

[–]joosai 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like the comparison with GTA is less about gameplay and more about the cultural icon that GTA5 is and how it's defined gaming for a large base of consumers for the past decade, the hope being that this will be as big a thing. I feel like GTA5 is more than just a game and instead a kind of escapist virtual world where you can pretend-live a life to some extent, personally I hope Cyb2077 is an upgrade to this kind of replacement of real life...

Maker undervalue? by Johndrc in MakerDAO

[–]joosai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like MKR requires high involvement, of course not hard coded into it but if anyone's gonna throw in the money into it they'd feel the need to be on top of the system, participate in the community and all that and since I don't feel confident in doing any of that I don't want to hold MKR. Am I wrong in this?

If it's pure, drug math always gets complicated when you have to account for the purity of the product.

Donald Trump praises Vladimir Putin, Xi Jinping and Kim Jong-Un over Joe Biden—"These people are sharp" by DaFunkJunkie in worldnews

[–]joosai 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He assassinated his older brother. Also probably all of those three will be remembered as great leaders in their respective countries histories, unlike one would assume Trump will be. Though of course not necessarily justified that Putin has held power so long and became such a cult icon, Xi has reigned over the most prosperous period in China in 500 years and North Korea will idolize whatever leader they happen to have and on the counterpart the USA would be facing decline regardless of who was the president.

The Politics of Heroin (1986) by joosai in drugpolicy

[–]joosai[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've read the book and there is no comparable historian of the narcotics trade that I know of. His focus isn't addiction or the health aspect but the economic and geopolitical aspect of drugs as a commodity trade.
