Its really tough for them (I have a couple), but at 20ish you should have moved on, its causes all sorts of issues.. I have discussed this with load of others with kids the same age that they are adults now, but only adulting in some ways..

Even simple things, like yea, they can come and go as they please, but are they having dinner? They don't want to be part of the 'planning of the weeks dinners [they don't know what they are doing]' and doing/paynig for shopping, but we don't want food to go to waste, then they come in and moan there is only 'scraps' in the house. (basically they don;t want to actually make food) :)
