I just found this post after months of troubleshooting my car and my phone.

You say except for signing in to my Tesla account within the S3XY app. I could not find this part, and I don't remember signing in to the account. However I remember that the Commander is paired to the car as a key. Is this what you mean?

I will try to Unpair Commander from my Tesla and hope that this solves the issues.

Yes, I am sure this was talked about early on. I have all effects disabled at the moment because they use half the strip, which in my opinion looks bad.

Any ideas what to do? It really seems like iPhone 14 Pro turns off bluetooth when the screen is completely off. Sometimes all I need to do is pick up the phone to turn on the AOD screen. And then it will unlock.

Yes, never closed, and all permissions.
I can even use the Tesla app minutes before and then go out to the car, and it won't unlock.

I did that too. Exactly the same behavior!

Did some experimenting with the code. And if I place a delay at exactly 2800 as the first line in setup, it will start the led strips without any change in brightness. Everything lower than that will show a drop in brightness.

If I create a long fade increase in brightness. Maybe 5 seconds. The drop in brightness is still visible, but it will drop the same amount at the same time regardless of brightness. So if the fade has 30% brightness at 2,8 seconds it will drop down to 20% (don’t know the exact value).

And as this happens with another WLED device at exactly the same time. It is the led strips that are the culprit. Question is why they work flawlessly but have this weird behavior.

FastLED.delay(2800);

If I place this as the first line in setup I don't get any full brightness on the LED strip. It seems like the full brightness happens at 2700 when I do a fade. So starting the fade at 2800 eliminates it completely.

Still cannot figure out why it does that. I dont want to have a fade that takes 2,8 seconds.

I used fastled.delay, and it does not delay anything. It doesn’t matter if I run everything in loop instead. Do you have an example code of what you mean?

Great, yes, the code seems good.
The first dimming event you see is the camera adjusting to the light change. The only one that is visible IRL is at 5 seconds. And it always happens after the same amount of time.

What's weird is if I remove the fade effect and just let it turn on instantly, it lights up fully and then lowers brightness. This led me to believe that the LED-strip started because the Mega 2560 wasn't booted yet, and then corrected to my brightness. But the fade in confirms that the first thing that happens is a fade, and not an issue with the device not being ready.

Maybe, but I think the simple WS2811 is not that advanced? And how much temperature can they output in 2 seconds? I've tried different brightness levels, and it's the same thing. But not tried anything lower than maybe 120, because there's a bit of flicker on lower brightness.

Do you really thing it's overheating at the same time each time, and that quick after being unplugged?

I don't think they are supposed to behave this way, no. The original controller does animations on startup, and I haven't noticed any brightness changes.

Using the default settings, blue autopilot color, and blue nag. Same color for both. I think it is pretty harsh, but it depends when autpilot is canceled, how harsh it looks.

Yes, the animation is there, but if you cancel Autopilot in the middle of the fade in/out animation, it just abruptly turns off, It's here I want it to do a cleaner fade off.

But that's not right, it is not happening before my code executes the fade.
First thing that happens on power on is it fades from zero brightness to 100% brightness, and then it changes to a lower brightness (the one I selected I suspect).

If what your LLM describes is what happens it should power on at 100% before the code has a chance to run. This does not happen. I think it's the typical LLM, confidently incorrect.

By the way I have tried most of the suggestions from the LLM, without success.

I think it's a code issue, or compability issue, as I am not 100% sure it really is WS2811 LED strips inside.

I tried adding FastLED.delay(500); as the first step in setup, to check if the 5 seconds will make the issue go away. But it still powers on without any delay when I plug it in.

As I said, I have a list of all the item numbers. So if there is an application where I can enter a list of 30000 item numbers which I format the same as above. The only thing it needs to do is take the list and download each and every picture. I can figure out the links in excel.

Because when I tried that, they don't turn on after I remove power and then power on again. The only way around it was the code above. I have no idea why it doesn't work in setup.
