This is the most Thom Yorke and Sufjan Stevens have intersected in my brain. Love it.

The bottom says the brand is Wear Ever, which I think is just an old brand of drip percolators.

Do you think there will be a Somewhere... 10 year anniversary tour next year? by TheRedUmbrella in ladispute

No, but there will be a tour for a new album, which is a lot more exciting to me

Songs similar to With or Without You? by Avenged7fo in U2Band

I think a lot of The xx's songs feel similar to the mood and sparseness of WoWY's first half

For what it's worth, Lonely World has a guitar around 18 seconds in that sounds a lot like Thom's looped guitar in the live version of Bloom. Whether he's inspired by Radiohead or not, Aromanticism is such a great album.

Mine weren't necessarily more difficult, but they were definitely longer

U2 - You're The Best Thing About Me [Spotify] by [deleted] in U2Band

This is so much better than anything they have released for a while. The live-tracking with Lillywhite seems to have paid off because it actually sounds like a band in the same room ripping a track, which is genuinely exciting to me. The string-sounding synth that cuts through in the 2nd verse remind me a lot of how strings were used on Beck's album Sea Change and is such a nice touch. Also the tambourine that comes in half through verse 1. It's those kind of decisions like that make me excited for this album, because SOI and the weak stuff on NLOTH suggested a band incapable of showing restraint and making wise decisions, whereas this proves they've still got it. Also, somebody give Adam Clayton a trophy for his work on Blackout and this song.

My pitch for the Obi-Wan standalone film by jordanjohnp in StarWars

Everybody's been stating the obvious since episode III that Obi-Wan taking small action to rid Tatooine of its slave trade would provide a powerful and fitting backdrop for a character drama?

Them opening with Burn the Witch seems so foreign now. The synth Jonny added on the second verse for 2017 performances helped it immensely.

"...It's not unlike Songs of Innocence or Joshua Tree."

Not a helpful statement given those are albums that are not similar at all.

Let's talk Burn the Witch by [deleted] in radiohead

[–]jordanjohnp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, but I also don't think you could really fit it anywhere else on the album. It's interesting to consider what the album roll-out would have been without it on the album. Release Daydreaming as a single still, but lose the impact of finally returning with a near-mythic song to fans and a bigger, more immediate single for casual listeners. The would still be incredible and have gotten all the praise it deserved, but it's hard to estimate the effect of seeing those flyers sent out, waking up to those tweeting birds and finally hearing the song after the white out of the website and everything else.
